Yep. There are so many avenues you can take in the medical field. Look at it long-term. People are living longer and there is a huge shortage. I am looking at being a flight nurse as I'm still a commercially rated pilot and a buddy and I are considering running an air ambulance company since he flew for one before flying for American Airlines.

Right now I'm looking at getting into a hospital ER while continuing my schooling. The girls are always abundant and if I wanted to wimp out, the horniest are the ones that aren't the hottest, but make the big $$$.

I really dig this stuff except for the times dealing with incontinence as it's not fun cleaning that shit up.

Tards will have a field day with this, but they are tards for good reason. I wish I pursued this many years ago.

I've yet to ask her if she digs it.

I asked my Uncle(who is a Doctor) if he would do it again... and he said, no.

Too much paper work, and not enough work as a doctor.

There are times I'll let it loose and be "honest."

I know a lot of doctors and they are under pressure as they are basically small business owners. Many nurses (especially here) make a lot more than a bunch of the docs. I am looking at moving to Coach Jim Mora territory down the road due to the weather and economics.

I'm going through State Boards in 2 weeks before starting LVN courses... then onto RN. It really depends on which hospital system I hook up with.

I'm considering negotiating not being financially sponsored so I don't have to work under contract and be obligated to stay in the Valley. I have good friends here, but this isn't where I want to live.

RN's do make a shit load here in California, but I'm not sure how much they make outside of the state.

You ever seen those weird looking boxes in malls that are for emergency usage? Those are these cool defribilators for those that may have had a heart attack. I know how to use them now and it was a letdown after seeing how easy they are to use.

It's just cool stuff and the technology is constantly changing. There are a few doctors and at least one RN on this board.

God help any patient who has this candy-striper to care for them.

My wife will finish her first year of schooling (LPN) next month. LPN’s here don’t make much more than CNA’s, but she’s going to continue to become an RN. Around here RN’s start around $30/hr.

Given I was to keep my same skill set, I'd stick with what I'm doing. I'm only in the first year of my professional life...no regrets. I entertained the idea of being a sports writer or a child psychologist but I was told quite often early in my life that I didn't read enough to go into those fields.

I am an RN with a BSN..with 21 years experience. I also have 21 years in the Army (14 Years Active). Currently in the National Guard. I am also a Computer Programmer.

My current civilian job is in a field called Clinical Informatics.. simply said.. I act as an interface between the medical staff and the Information Services staff in the effort to computerize healthcare...


Not bad, I've done okay for myself. I am very glad that I joined the Army, other wise I think I don't think I would like having been a nurse.

As far as the computer programming, I like it but I haven't found a steady high paying job. The market seems to have crapped out on this one lately....

It just seems so cool and free- spirited!! I don't know why I didn't consider this an option when I was younger!

I'm still too young to know whether or not I have chosen the wrong field. I've only been in the mortgage business for 3 years and I have been promoted twice in that time, so for right now, I like what I do and feel that I have done well so far. Will my feelings change? Probably. Most people after time become bored or need a new challenge. I am sure this will occur if the promotions begin to stop, or the mortgage business takes a hit. I might go back and get my Masters in PR and go that route, but I am not going to make that decision for another 2-3 years.

Would being a sex offender disqualify someone from getting a job in the aerospace industry? How about if it requires a security clearance?

You looked at it much deeper, psychologically speaking, than I did.

I was actually looking at the job, nothing more.

Both jobs have drawbacks, of course, but they'd be interesting. A college professor has to publish to obtain full professorship. And tenure = job security. The pay isn't the greatest, but isn't all that bad considering the amount of time off potentially available to you. And it's an intellectual job.

The drawbacks of being a football coach, at least at high levels, are pretty obvious. The hours suck; the lifestyle, including moving around from place to place, isn't the greatest for your family; and you're basically hired to be fired. But the pay is good enough that if you manage your money wisely, you can afford to be unemployed every now and again.

When I started college I was doing it thinking I was going to become a Physical Therapist. To get some experience under my belt over the summer, I got a CNA to assist in geriatric therapy.

$6.50/hour and people who didn't want to be interrupted while watching Price is Right.

Medicare stopped paying for a lot the therapy soon thereafter so the market shriveled up.

CNA's make a few more $/hr here but it's not something you would want to do long term. It's a requirement of the specific program I'm in. Next is LVN then to RN.

I taught high school biology from 1962 to 1994.
Started out at $4,500 a year and ended up at
$50K a year. My pension + SSI is a bit more
than that.

All in all if I could do it over- I'd either teach at
the college level or gone directly into a USDA
job in entomology similar to what I was doing
at Cornell after I retired from teaching.

Madison, Wisconsin. CNA's here make a little over $12/hr. My wife has been working the third shift on weekends, and the shift bonuses push her up to about $16.50/hr.

I'm a graphic designer now, but if I had to do it over again, I'd be an elementary school art teacher. My sister just started teaching 4th grade and she has the best schedule ever! I'm so jealous...

There are tons of college professors.

Coaching takes a little extra something. And there's also the mini-
celebrity aspect of it, particularly when you do good. The 'Coach
