I tend to back off passing judgement.
I don't. Do us all a favor and please, as soon as possible, kill yourself.

But by all means, let's withdraw our military from all corners of the globe and try to reason with the terrorists.

And had that been the pevalent attitude 60 years ago, there woulnd't be a terrorist threat against American in the first place, now would there?

There wouldn't be an America either.
Post-WW2, which country do you think it was that was capable of successfully invading the USA?
Immedaitely after WW@, the Soviets might have been able to pull it off, but they were a little preoccupied at the time.
Cold War -- maybe, but a full-on ground invasion probably wouldn't have succeeded. By the mid-late 50's, the Soviets had missile superiority, and they knew it, but they also knew a nuke attack wouldn't go without a devastating counterattack, so that was a stalemate.
The Chinese? Don't think so.
So, who was going to roll through the US after WW2, that this country wouldn't exist?

Who would have stopped them?
Interesting question, albeit strictly hypothetical (but you knew that, just like you know we're FAR from the first people to bring this question up).
I believe that we can deduce from the Soviets' own military leaders that an American invasion wouldn't have been worth the repercussions. Because if they could have, they would have.
As a guy who studies this stuff, mv, I'm sure you realize (and are one of the few), that the Soviets, at various times throughout the Cold War, could have just absolutely ROLLED the US...militarily. There was times when that battle
wouldn't even have been close (but you knew that). So, why didn't they?
I think it was because they weren't quite as stupid as they acted at times. If the shoe was on the other hand, and the US began a ground invasion on 1960's USSR, it would have sparked a revolt as well, therby ending the commies' tenure. I believe if there was a Soviet invasion of America, every man, woman, and child would have fought the invaders tooth and nail, with their last dying breath...because that is how We roll.
And the Soviets knew this. What would be the point of invading, if you had to fight 200,000,000 hand-to-hand when you were in?
Sheesh, dude. I'd think you would know this, and I'm suprised you don't. You need to watch Red Dawn and educate yourself.

Certainly not my suggestion.
I'm what I'd have to call a "moderate isolationist." And if someone crossed our "line-in-the-sand," then I'd bring a wrath the world has never seen.

Apparently quite a bit.
I believe we will always fundamentally differ on one thing, though -- I believe that anyone who attends a Great White concert 20 years after they were
almost relevant,
deserves to die.

A co-worker of mine who made it out actually asked me to go. I declined. Your right I don't think people deserve to die for it, but my stance on this board and how seriously I take it has changed quite a bit......
