Now the Niners have the #6 and #22 pick in the draft!

Vernon Davis... and Manny Lawson or Deangelo Williams in the 1st round sounds good to me!

Good job, dumbfuck.
It's common knowledge that you've got jelly for brains... so let me help ya.

Erickson and Donahue are no longer with the team!

York's an idiot, but he's starting to spend money.

The Raiders are all alone in the league when it comes to good decisions.

Are the Raiders really thinking about Huff?

I like the Huff pick better than the Young pick. We need all the defensive help we can. I still think we need to get a LB (Chad Greenway? A.J Hawk wont be available) or a DT like Ngata. but I wouldnt be pissed with a michael Huff pick.

You could probably trade down with Denver since they're giving away good picks and still pick up Huff later in the 1st.

Just a thought.

For the numerous holes the Niners have to fill on their lines(O&D), this was a stupid fuckin' move. They should have kept the 2 & 3 and filled spots to help their line. At #37- they probably could have gotten Hali from Penn State (who can play both end & tackle when needed) or Kwankua from BC... and then still had another top-end 3rd round pick to help out their O line, or more D help as well. Overall- bad move on the Niner's part... Plus- as Assasin said- York is a cheap ass. He is not going to want to pay 2 first round pics.

The Niners line is fine except for Kwame Harris at right tackle.

Jennings at left tackle (out last year due to injury)

Larry Allen at left guard (just aquired)

Newberry or Bass(last year's draft, and was voted top lineman in the Big 10) at center.

Bass or Snyder(last year's draft, and was voted top Lineman in the Pac 10)

Just need a right tackle.

With 2 1st rounders in the draft... the Niners are getting 2 starters as opposed to 1 and 2 good players.

I'm guessing the 49ers are not done dealing. You do not make a trade this late in the game unless you have a plan! The 49ers have a variety of choices now (first round picks are powerful trade bait). First, as reported by Tony Bruno, the 49ers could package the 6th and 22nd for Reggie Bush (which is a move I am not in favor of). Second, they could package the 6th and 22nd for Walker and Green Bay's 5th (I wouldn't mind this happening). Third, they could package their 22nd for Green Bay's 2nd rounder and Javon Walker. Fourth, they could trade their 6th for a mid 1st rounder and 2nd rounder. The point is... the 49ers are taking a powerful stance so far. They will continue (IMO) to put themselves in position to better this team sooner rather than later! Powerful stance's by this team is a stance I prefer they take!!

TRADE with Denver?

Lemme ask you when is the last time the niners made a trade or any deal with their most hated rival? Exactly

I didn't know we were being serious...

I fully expect the Raiders to pick Querverton Jones a cb from Southern Tennesse State with the #7 pick since he runs a 4.17 40.

I think Oakland would take V. Davis over Huff, if both are on the board when they pick.

If they end up with Huff in the 1st rd I won't be pissed.

Yep, defensive help is much needed.

Does this mean I can count on Gore to save my keeper team?

Mr. Bluntman may be out.
Mr. I have a 4 year contract but my team is drafting a RB #1 may be out.
Mr. I was suspended for 2005 may be a 3rd down back.
Mr. my fucking knees hurt is out of a job.

Think Rudi can carry a team? :meds:

They can think whatever they want....

Denver has cap considerations and I'm thinking Shannahan has no desire to pay the salaries of two first rounders, hence the trade.......

like I say, Shannahan has made his living on second through sixth round picks.......

but when it comes right down to it, I don't think Shannahan is done dealing yet......

Not sure what to think about this one.

My first impression? San Fran got over.

This draft is very deep with talent and it's not like we traded a top ten pick. I don't think there's going to be a big dropoff in talent in those fifteen spots but the money saved is going to be substantial. I'm good with the move.

Yeah, rack mv.

Sure the NFL is all about competition, but in making a deal, does someone always have to be a clear cut winner/loser? Donk fan probably isn't exactly happy with the outcome of last season, but Texan/Lion/9ner fan would be fukkin' amped if their team finished where the Donks did. The Donks, like it or not, are in the Have's portion of the NFL, the other named teams are part of the Have-Not's. Does a team in the former category necessarily need top flight prospects as part of their plan? Teams in the latter, usually rebuilding, do. This deal, unless the 9ner's draft the Second Coming of Whoever, is even imo. The only swap I can recall that was a serious getting over was Dallas/Minnesota of the early '90s.

It appears the forumla for winning in the Parity Football League is organizational continuity at this point. Look at who was in the SB and the others who saw some measure of success. The Donks are in that continuity zone, so there's no need for a top pick savior to build the team around, and no seriously glaring needs. And no gimmick needed to sell tickets. The opposite is true of the 9ers and other Have Not's.
Maybe not Win-Win, but certainly PUSH.
