What a fucking joke. I was on two phones at the same time and trying to simultaneously type on Ticketmaster's website. I got online at 10:06 and there were no tickets available. Finally got through on the phone at 10:15 and they confirmed it. No tickets available. Fuck.
The worst thing is, you just know those ticket broker assholes who don't know Tool from fucking Chevelle will have a shitload of tickets for a few hundred bucks a piece. How the hell do they do it? My friend's GF works at Clear Channel, and she had the most inside source possible trying to score pre-sale, but there was nothing. Yet somehow, Guido at Tix R Us can get ahold of as many as you need.

She obviously didn't know the right people. Or she wasn't paying as much as the brokers for the real inside dope. Also, I suspect that these ticket brokers have nice little operations set up with a room full of tweekers banging away on the phones for tickets to multiple events.
Simply put, you're an amateur ticket buyer. These guys are pros.

rack the fuck out of mike. i was about to post my tool rant.
went to my boy's house at 3 am sat morn. friend of his was wearing a tool shirt. i rack him, and he tells me that tool tix for the fox in detroit are on sale sat morn an 9 am. i ask him how the hell he found this out? "i just know." are you in the fan club?" no. how much? "$66." jesus christ.
so i didn't get tix and obviously they sold out in a heartbeat. while i rack tool playing small venues, they should be charging $35-45 and playing arenas so that more people can see them and not have the brokers scalp all the good tix. i'm still pissed about all this shit. too bad pitchfork is too snobby for tool news, i'd like to have known about this maybe a week before?!?!?!

for the record i still have the stub from the 9/11/01 show in GR they cancelled for obvious reasons. the 9/13/01 show was surreal, but they didn't play aenima, nor third eye.

I wouldn't have even minded paying the $66.66 (rack the "ticket price of the Beast" BTW). It'd be worth the extra $20-30 to see them in an intimate setting. I just wish they'd played 2 or 3 nights so us "amatuer ticket buyers" wouldn't get hosed.
Oh well, I've already seen them at Red Rocks, and I doubt anything could top that. This was before Salival came out, so it was the first time I heard them do "No Quarter." As an added bonus, the Melvins opened up. The frat boy Limp Bizkit crowd was not into them, which made it even better.
I also saw them in Oct. '01 here in PHX on the same tour you mentioned. We got there pretty early, but we still ended up missing Tricky's entire set because the post-9/11 security check was over the top.
