* the wings really need to do a better job of capitalizing on roloson's rebounds. there were a couple prime opportunities the for the wings that they screwed up, including jason williams overskating that loose puck in the open goalmouth in the second period. roloson didn't give up too many in game 2, but the ones he did give up were gems.

* edmonton is doing a great job clogging up the center of the ice. did the wings really have that many choice scoring opportunities? zetterberg coming up short on that breakaway was huge.

* the third and fourth liners for the oilers are making all the plays. had to love the dude who just got inserted into the lineup scoring on that snipe over legacy's glove hand. that thing was just a fucking lazer!

* on that note, the wings turned the puck over in the defensive zone way too much, but much of that was forced by edmonton. see: peca and pronger's assists.

today's game was great. dudes were getting laid out all over the ice. playoff hockey, fuck yes!

Can't argue with that assessment at all. However, 3 or Detroit's 4 goals this series have beem lucky bounces/bad goaltending.

The wings aren't scoring on some of their oppertunities, but Edmonton's left some things on the table also. Both teams hit crutial posts. Peca's would have put Edmonton up 4-2 and Yzerman's would have tied it...

The same can be said about Maltby who got the last two goals of Edmonton's series. The "dude" in Edmonton's line up is Brad Winchester. He's a big winger and he did play 19 games this year. He only managed 1 assist in those 19 games and managed to pick up his first NHL goal in his first playoff game. It was huge.

That's "Oiler Hockey". I was sooo happy that we ditched that crap trap system we played in game 1. If we're going to lose, I'd much rather lose playing an aggressive system than turning into a trapping team.

I thought Detroit played with much less fiery/determination than Edmonton did. If the Wings plan on moving on to the 2nd round, that has to change. Detroit just didn't look sharp today. Edmonton's PP has looked great, seem to have control of the puck the full 2 minutes, Detroit's has not. Detroit's PP has actually looked pretty awful from what we're use to seeing. Stevie will have a talk with the boys to get them skating with some passion. Should make for a couple of great games in Edmonton.

The Oilers just want to take the Wings out of their game and they've got a great job up this point. Their neutral zone defense forces everything to outside giving the Wings bad shooting angles. Roloson may be seeing a large volume of shots but not many of them would be deemed quality scoring chances. I almost think the Wings seem content with just firing shots from the circles and hoping for rebounds. Considering Babcock was a coach that was reasonable for stimying the Wings recently in the playoffs, he should be able to figure out a counter for the Oilers defensive setup. The Wings are fortunate to be tied in this series because this was about 6 minutes away from being 2-0. Let's see if this record-breaking road team can come away with no worse than a split in Edmonton.

It's too bad they can't play against Ray Emery because that dude leaves so many rebounds in the slot. It's a godo thing Ottawa has such a good D.

The Lightning took advantage of a rebound directed back into the slot for the winning goal last night.

we have learned that officiating in the NHL is very inconsistent.
