Merril Hoge: neither Leinart nor Young should be 1st rders

He was saying the other day that Jay Cutler is the best qb in the draft, has the skills that will most translate to the NFL. Leinart, he said, sucks at throwing accurate medium range throws, plus his team made him look good. I agree. And I agree even more about what he said concerning Young, whose learning curve is off the fucking charts. Rack Hoge for having the balls to call out these two overrated QBs. We're talking the next Tim Couch/Akili Smith in this draft. Cutler will be the Culpepper who goes late but turns out better than the rest.
I can sort of see Leinart being okay in the right situation but not a Pro Bowler. I definately see Young being a complete fucking bust.

They both look like 1st rounders.

Mike Vick is more than a servicable QB, and not only is VY's game patterned after his, he's better at it. He may not be quite as athletic but he runs with a purpose instead of like a chicken with its head cut off. I see Leinart like a Brady, in that, he's just so cool and relaxed in the pocket, and his level of confidence and ability to learn the position will soon overturn any deficiences he has in the talent department.

Leinart doesn't have deficiencies in the talent dept. He's about as talented as they come.

I wouldn't think a guy that cut up so many top defenses through his college days would field so much criticism. These top defenses were also in bowl games or on the other school's field. I understand he has a great line and great running backs but he also lost one stud of a receiver and a guy that set an SC receptions record and the passing game still did not miss a beat. His defense also deteriorated and he still pushed his offense to Ws.

I screamed at him many times as well but I also screamed at SC coaches for not letting him let it rip more when he was CUT-TING UP a strong Texas defense.

I think he has the right head on his shoulders...I hope he does well but the odds are really against a lot of these guys. I mean if the knock is the team was so good, then big deal. It isn't hurting Big Ben.
