Pretty Cool Collection of 70s live performances....

Tapes from KSAN, San Francisco's original free form alt music station, which lasted basically from about 1968-1980. They pretty much pioneered the whole FM thing.
There are probably 60 recordings of in-studio performances. I just started listening to Bonnie Raitt from 1973 and it's great.

Go to the "Jive Audio" link.
Check out Elvin Bishop. About the most kick-ass party music of the time.

Sure woulda been nice if these were in anything but 32kbps Real Media files.
But it's interesting from an archival perspective.

I saw him play a few times way back when. Once is was one of Bill Graham's outdoor shows in the Oakland Colesium where he opened for Leon Russell and Loggins & Messina. They were all good but, frankly, Elvin stole the show.
Commander Cody and NRPS are great too.
The recording quality on some of those shows is pretty bad, but some are really good. Don't bother with Cold Blood (a band that I really like) or Boz Scaggs. You can barely hear what's going on.

So you can spend the next few years telling your firewall "no, I don't want to send my info out to Realplayer, or anyone else every two minutes."

Wow, what a mess that player is. You don't think any adware shit is going to show up do you? bwahahaha.
Still, even after the download and restart, it wouldn't play shit. I want my 10 minutes back.

Hmmm. I didn't have any problem. I've just recently completely reformatted both of my machines. I downloaded the file and just clicked "no" on everything except installing the free player. Works fine here.

DiT is glad to know you have no firewall protection. Let the probing begin.

I've got active adware blockers and haven't gotten any attempts from there.

Where did I say that? What makes you think I have no firewall protection? It's better now that it was before, BTW.

When I've installed RealPlayer, my firewall lets me know in no uncertain terms what RP is up to.
Might want to check those firewall settings.

Do you know any other way to play .ram files?
Posted: Tue Apr 25, 2006 4:55 pm
by Dinsdale
Nope.
I see the ".ram" extension, and figure I don't need to hear it that badly.

Roach wrote:Rack the link Mikey. I remember listening to KSAN and Dusty Street when I lived in Millbrae. Sheesh time files like a you-know-what.
I think Real is the only thing will play the *.ram files.
Oh yes you can.
BTW: If the pace of the streaming files piss you off, it is also possible to simply download the .rm files as well. Just download the .ram file to your machine and open it in notepad. The address for the .rm file will be contained within. Just convert it to http from rtsp as I have below.

I trust NOBODY to keep archives up.
