Hey FSU and Nebraska fans

This is an NFL related topic, but I wasn't sure if you guys read that forum much.
Anyway, what can you tell me about Ernie Sims (FSU) and Daniel Bullocks (NU). Wasn't Bullocks a national leader in interceptions last year (or near the top of the list)?
I like these pickups, based solely on position, but I don't know much about these guys.

I think the Lions and its fan are going to love Ernie Sims. The guy has been a fan fav at FSU since he signed his LOI. Ernie is a playmaker who can lay the wood. His one wekness was that he played a little too reckless and over ran some plays trying to make a big hit. I think Marinelli will reign him in and make him play more sound gap defense. He is great in coverage and will be able to fly around like Derrick Brooks at the Will position.

FSU Linebackers don't seem to disappoint much. Hopefully he can make an immediate impact.

.
Your thinking of his twin brother Josh who is playing for the Saints. He lead the nation (14?) in 2004.
Daniel had 226 career tackles in 48 games with 33 starts. Second most ever for defensive backs.
He holds the NU record for safetys with 22 career break-ups.
He had 8 career INTs.
He was named second team All-Big 12 two years in a row.
I thought Daniel really started to show NFL ability the last half of his senior year.
He is a solid tackler, and I believe he developed better ball skills later in his career.
Gets to the play well.
Ironically he was the 40th pick in the draft, the same as his brother one year before.

I don't see E. Sims being an effective pro linebacker. True he has always been a big fan fav. here iin Tally as he is a local boy. He can lay the wood but is always loking to do so which causes him to play outside of himself and the defensive scheme. He is under sized and greatly lacks poise.

If his biggest problem is that he's too aggressive, well, that's a very coachable deficiency.

Blue, I don't think it is simply a matter of being to agressive. regretively I think he was pushing to hard to live up to the hype he came to FSU with. Also he gets frustrated easily and does stupid shit that cost the team in penalties.
Hopefully maturation will elimanate this.

Cic, ya really got the bar raised a bit high for this kid comparing him to Brooks. I will agree that Marinelli is the ideal coach to get the most out of him though.

Well, Ernie has the talent to be a Derrick Brooks type player. Not saying he can match his consistency but they will play similar roles. Both of them are about 6'0", but are good tacklers and rely on speed to make plays. Plus, both are good in coverage.

Nolesy and Cicero are both right.
Sims can be a PLAYA....IF he stops with the dumb ass late hits, roughing the passer, etc...bullshit that he did so much last year.
Speed and overall talent are second to none.

Had not scrolled down past ernies shoulders and I'm thinking "oh no not crown and his greg jones fixation.
PSU fans, not all FSU fans throw up pics like crown. Some of us are not that skilled in the art of navigating computers.
Beating frisco to the punch- I did infact enroll in ubb code school.

Bullocks developed little since the coaching-change, he looked like a future-monster under Marvin Sanders and Bo Pelini. But he has an NFL-body and talent. Hope he works out for you.

AS Husker fan and a Lions fan I'm pretty stoked...
Initially I was pissed that the Millen Brain trust didn't draft an OT inthe first two rounds. I mean if you look at Kelly Butler not knowing where he was half the time & Jeff Backus being reliable enough to kill at least one drive a game with a dumbassed false start or holding penalty a game(OK I'm overeacting here Backus had his best year so far,but..) it seemed obvious to me that they needed to get this taken care of. But when you look at all the injuries last year on defense and the lack of quality depth, picking theses guys was a no-brainer. And more importantly the so called fucking experts hated the Lions draft..To me that is a great sign for things to come..
Bullocks is a good pickup, he's a fast, strong, smart kid. He's had some mistackles but overall he's very consistent. I definitely can't see him replacing the solid Kenoy Kennedy as a starter right off the bat but he'll be decent off the bench. And from what I've read about Sims he just might start.
