"Off Limit" smack

The bonfire converstation got me wondering what other topics are just not cool to make fun of. I can think of three off the top of my head...

Texas A&M

OK: Gay male cheerleaders (err "yell leaders"), fans making out in stands, license plate frames that say "Former Student" rather than "Alumni" or "Graduate"

Not OK: bonfire

Colorado

OK: Rae Carruth, general thuggishness, recruiting scandals, drunken jackass fans

Not OK: Sal Aunese

Nebraska

OK: Lawrence Phillips, general thuggishness, botched coaching searches, smug condescending fans

Not OK: Brook Berringer

I've only resorted to Brook smack once, and it was in direct response to Sal smack. I was watching the 2000 CU/NU game at a Husker bar here in Mesa, and some drunken old twats sitting behind me started in with "Where's Sal?" These hags had to be in their mid to late 50s if not older. It's not something you'd expect to hear from even the most obnoxious Husker fan, let alone a couple of older ladies. I let it slide the first time, but she said it again. I just said "Where's Brook Berringer?" without even turning around. Never heard a peep out of them the rest of the day.

What are some other "don't go there" topics?

Oklahoma

NOT OK: OKC bombing

I can't think of a single thing that should be off limits... it's a message board. If someone were to act out in real life, that would be a different scenerio.

I think this is a pretty good place for people to discuss their thoughts and feelings without the morality police coming down on them.

I fail to see how the OKC bombing has any direct relation to the University of Oklahoma other than the fact that it happened in the state of Oklahoma.

OK: Switzer,

Better coach than anything texass has ever had and owned UT. Feel free to discuss this wonder boy.
rapist,
Texas not only leads the country in rapes on college campuses but also leads in number of students with AIDS. Go figure.
Lack of success in the NFL,
More first round draft picks than texass, more Pro Bowlers by a margin of almost 20 than texass, more Pro Bowl appearances for those players than texass. More #1 selections than texass (look for that margin to widen even further next year .
shooting each other in dorms
Texass players save this for 6th street and butterfly knives, right? How many Runningbacks do you have left on scholly now anyways?
drug dealers,
You mean like OJ McClintock, who I knew in HS and was the biggest drug dealer in all of Round Rock?
crappy education,
Leads the country in per capita National Merit Honor Students, has had TWice as many Rhodes Scholars over the last decade as UT has (8 to 4), top meteorlogy school in not only America but the entire fucking world. Most high Tech and advanced public school of Mass Communications, Oklahoma Law School is second amongst public Universities (only behind Michigan) in top 10 Moot Point Supreme Court finishes. I could go on but hey I figured this was enough to make you look like an ass.
toothless inbreds,

You ever been to Pflugerville or Georgetown? And you have the nerve to talk about our dental hygene?
trailer trash,
Texas has more trailers than any other state in the union, texas has more trailers per capita than any state in the union, texass is the leading manufacturer of trailers in America.

Stadium named Gaylord,
Stadium named after University of Oklahoma Alumni.

Bomar,
Colt McCoy
John Blake,
John Mackovic
lack of institutional control,
Texass has been put on probation atleast twice for this as well.
ass raped by USC in 2k5, ass raped by KSU in 2k4,
Ass raped by Oklahoma 2000 and 2004.
Teddy Lehman's foot speed,
Teddy Lehman 4 TDs in RRR as a Linebacker, the fake Roy Williams 2 TDs his entire career versus Oklahoma as a WR, Christina Simms 3 TDs career versus Oklahoma as a QB.
overall record vs Texas,
Congrats your great great great grand daddy saw UT stack up 28 wins in 30 years before WWII and while they were still wearing leather helmets. Check the record over the last 40 years jackass.

free car rentals,
Free Land Rovers from Red McCombs.

Not a big fan of the use of the word "tard" in this forum. But, it's been used for so long that it's become common verbage.

Anything you want to say about ND is fine by me. Because typically I can find shit to hit below the belt with, too.

I find the use of "tard" extremely degradinging in any arena of society.

Like I said in the other thread, I really don't hold anything sacred that is not smackable.

If someone wants to run Bonfire Smack, Brook Berringer Smack, etc., it says a lot about the person "smacking" and karma will find a way.

nothing is off limits on a smack board.

it would be one thing if someone used the death of a posters family as smack, but smack about the bon fire is tasteless and tacky, but is smack board eligable.

i would not use it, not my cup of tea when it comes to smack

You may have a point. However, this forum is not a typical "smack board". Rather it is a collection of guys, and a gal who have hung together for what, five years or so? To that end I don't see where some one running amok with tasteless and degrading shit will be tolerated long.

A task force at Colorado University in Boulder is recommending that the school convert more bathrooms into unisex facilities in order to prevent discrimination against "gender queer" individuals on campus, according to the Daily Camera.

The Transgender-Gender Queer task force says more "all-gendered," multi-stall bathrooms need to be created. Currently, there is only one outside CU's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center, and a handful in the dorms dorms and classroom buildings.

The new bathrooms, if they are built, will be designated by a special icon, half of which is wearing a dress and the other half wearing pants.

Apparently, according to gay rights groups, transgender people regularly face discrimination, harassment and violence in a world of sex-segregated bathrooms.

Damn close to 7 years now, actually.

BTW, just to clarify, when I say "off-limits" I don't mean it literally. No matter how ridiculous or offensive someone's takes are, the only thing that'd be worth banning them for is posting personal info or spamming. I'm just talking more in terms of what's generally considered appropriate versus what's going to earn you a massive pile-on.

I think there is a definite distinction between this forum and Main Street. Both are "smack boards," but I think there are certain lines you shouldn't cross in here.

Well, 1) most of the core group has been here since 1999 or earlier, and, frankly, don't give a fuck what you think. We've all become psuedo-friends, and when it merits, we'll take up for one another on some situations. 2) Yeah, it's a message board. Some things are above and beyond that on here... especially because of #1.

It's not a "morality police" issue, it's a decency issue. People, maybe even friends, died in the bonfire. Football, especially for you, should not be above life and death...

I'll take a shot at this one viz. ND:

OK: Faust/Davie/Willingham coaching regimes; Holtz' resemblance to Granny of The Beverly Hillbillies and/or refusal to modernize the offense; Ara "playing for the tie"; annual series vs. Navy; refusal to join a conference; arrogance of administration and/or fan base; ineptitude of current athletic director.

Not OK: Rodney Culver, Jeff Alm.

Just my thoughts, anyway.

That brings back memories...

I remember waking up early on Sunday morning and watching Lindsey Nelson do the Notre Dame game from the day before. They would cut part of the game out, and Lindsey would say... "we now move on to later action" then they would move up about 5 or 10 minutes in the game for more action. Ara Parseghian was the coach back in those days.

Man, some of those SC and Norte Dame games were the best memories I have of College Football.
