Something occured to me today.

I was wondering that, amidst all the sabre rattling and tough talk over Iran's nuclear determination, a key point of vilification against the Islamic Republic is missing. I went over the recent denunciations of the Iranian government made by the State Department and their Zionist, soft Jew puppets in the main street media, and realized that the hostage crisis of 1979 is rarely, if ever mentioned. Actually, I think the only time I've ever heard it brought up in recent months was the speculation that Ahmedinijad was one of the original kidnappers, and a member of the group that took the hostages, the terrorist MEK. Of course that lie was exposed as a Mossad smear campaign early on, but still, it makes you question why that episode is so rarely recalled, especially in these times of heightened paranoia over Iran.

Could it be Cheney and Rumsfeld's current cozy relationship with former kidnappers and declared terrorists, the MEK?

So if it was brought up when the rumor started that Ahmedinijad was one of the hostage-takers and that was proven to be false, why continue to bring it up?

Sure, we Americans like to run a story into the ground as frequently as possible, if nothing else just to display our mock indignation skills, but we're talking about something that happened almost 30 years ago. It's hardly relevant at this point. That'd be like trying to rally the troops around North Korean war atrocities from the 50's to garner support for some sort of action now.

1. We don't negotiate publicly with terrorists.
2. It depends on who or what they've got.

No one really talka a lot about the Iran Hostage Crisis, because it was a strawman for the Reagan Administration.

Bush 1 didn't talk much about Willie Horton.
Bush 2 hasn't said dick about gay marriage.

You generally don't parade around with the strawman that you came to the dance with, as long as he gets you in the door.

The whole "negotiating with terrorists" thing kinda went out the window after...well, after Reagan negotiated with terrorists.

He probably also negotiated with the Islamic Republic to delay their release. Contemptible, if true.

Contemptible, maybe, but almost admirable on a certain level because of the gall it took to make such a request. Also, can you imagine what the islamists must've thought if asked to please hold onto the hostages for a couple of extra months?
