NEW YORK (AP) -- Brent Musburger will team with analysts Kirk Herbstreit and Bob Davie for ABC's Saturday night college football games this fall, while Brad Nessler will be part of a three-man booth with Paul Maguire and Bob Griese.

ABC and ESPN revealed their new announcing teams Wednesday.

Other interesting changes include Dan Fouts moving from the analyst position he held last season to play-by-play. The NFL Hall of Famer will be in the booth with Tim Brant.

Mike Patrick and Todd Blackledge will team up for ESPN's Saturday night broadcasts, while Doug Flutie will be in the studio for both ESPN and ABC. Also, Chris Fowler will take over the play-by-play duties from Mike Tirico for ESPN's Thursday night games.
Dan Fouts on play by play? Guess Keith Jackson has put his mic away. The 3 man booth sucks esp with Mustardburger calling the action.

Not having Tirico doing play by play will suck. Maguire is a very odd selection.

Tirico is one of the best. Shocked that ESPN fucked that up :meds:
I am not a fan of the 3 man booth. No one gives a rat's ass what two guys have to stay most of the time, so we dont need three guys trying to entertain us. I have noticed that ESPN always thinks more is better. Go back to the NFL Draft. Years ago there were just 3 guys on the stage in NYC and they would have reports from their reporters at the respected camps. Now, there are 5 guys on the stage, 4 studio guys at ESPN and another 3-4 current players babling on about the draft.

Ron Franklin getting stuck on ESPN 2 while Rowetund is the sideline reporter on the main game is a direct result of last years ND-Purdue game. And if she wasn't so fucking stupid, Franklin wouldn't have had to make the comment he did.

I detest Griese and Mushburger.

Franklin is the best in the biz IMO. Holly Rowe sucks horse cocks. She know absolutely nothing about the game. Franklin should have been on the Saturday night ABC telecast instead of Musberger.

I'm sure you don't want to watch the whole video, but at the 2:30 mark is one of the best comments ever to a sideline reporter, and likely the reason Franklin is stuck on the duce.

It's not giving up.....

Franklin deserves big game treatment. I am sure he is pissed and I wouldnt be surprised to see him leave for FOX since they have the BCS games from now on.

Agreed-- same with Mike Patrick. Reminds me of the Sugar Bowl coverage back in the 90s when ABC would pull in Michaels, Gifford, & Dierdorf to call the game. Just doesn't seem right hearing the usual NFL guys calling college games.

Paul Maguire used to call college football games on ESPN in the early to mid-'80s, back when he was sober.

Mike Patrick must have incriminating photos of someone very high up the food chain at ESPN to still pull down a paycheck.

Another name I'm pissed not see in there is Mark Jones. He might still be doing noon games on ESPN, but I think he deserves to be a regular ABC guy. Solid commentator.

Mark Jones makes Bryant Gumbel look like Tupac.

Pussburger, Herbstreit and Davie is just bizarre. A tool, a pretty boy and a simpleton.

I guess they're tring to hit the desperately-insecure female moron demographic. :meds:

I'll take the University of Texas' last three starting QB's for 1000.

I don't know if Chance Mock is a pretty boy, but the Tool and Simpleton made me laugh out loud.

So what happened to #16(Gary Danielson)? He seemed to be the only broadcaster that could keep Messberger under control...

Do you mean Gary "He would have scored had it not been for the linebacker, cornerback and safety ganging up on him for a 3 yard loss" Danielson?

1. Musberger sux and will always suck.
2. Maguire wasn't bad until he stopped drinking.
3. Fouts will be OK as long as he homers for the left coast.
4. When your team is winning the announcers seem better....

I'm so tempted to actually take the time to listen to every second of every Mushberger's insane broadcasts and document them on the web to highlight his ridiculous calls like when Vince Young had a nine-yard gain and he quipped something like, "The Ohio State defense is containing Vince Young.". These things need to be advertised! How does this man keep his job if everyone hates him?

Somewhere in the recesses of either my garage or my basement is an old VHS video (anyone else remember those?) of the '88 ND-Miami game. I watched it so many times that I had the entire game, including Brent's announcing, memorized at one point. After awhile, it just became fun to fast forward directly to all of Brent's inanities.
