Bbq'n on Memorial Day?

Post by Mikey »

Memorial day is one of the top days for cookin' outside. If you're not grilling today, you should be. If you are, what are you fixin?

Me, we're havin' the father in law over in a couple of yours. It's about 80 deg here and clear as a bell. We've been working in the yard, and I've been doing the obligatory pool maintenance. I'm about ready to jump in, and I'll even force the kids to go swimming before they eat.

On the table:

Tri tips, cooked on the Weber rotisserie, bbq sauce on the side.

Potato salad. Mikey's secret recipe that has red potatoes, celery, olives, pimientos, eggs, mayo and a few secret ingredients.

Green salad with avos and tomatoes.

Bush's baked beans

Sourdough rolls.

Chocolae ice cream with raspberry topping.

Stone Levitation Ale

Here's part of the area I've been working on. This place was your basic mass of weeds a couple of weeks ago.

That house peeking over the hill wasn't even there last year. Now we got peeping toms living behind us. Welll...once they see me get naked out of the spa they prolly won't be looking this direction any more.

not sure how far back your property
goes--but I'd plant a few fast growing
shrubs/trees and get back your privacy--
I'm guessing Mrs. Mikey is not down with
ogling neighbors !!
btw--
I like your "hot spa" in the corner of the pool--
MrsO wants one here.

The spa is great after a day of working in the yard. In fact, that was one of the prime motivations for the whole pool thing.

On sunny days I can heat that thing up to 102+ with just the solar heat. In fact I think I'll go turn it on now. It's about time to pack it in for the day. I've been installing a new salt chlorination system for the pool. A pain in the ass but when I get it up and running the pool will be twice as nice. I just need to make sure the water chemistry is right before turning it on.

Mikey,

In for the halibut. Only crappy Corona.

Currently 75 here in the LBC.

BTW I was in your neck of the woods this weekend. From Saturday to Sunday what a difference in the weather, eh?

Yep. We got rained on Saturday morning. Yesterday and today felt like summer's just around the corner. It's days like today that remind me of why I really like living here.

Early in the morning I got up and made a double batch of my Mac Salad and then left it in the refer to chill. At 5 I put on the burgers on the grill...Lil Luth had the turkey burger.

We decided to eat on the covered deck as it was a nice evening...until the fat bitch next door that owns Barkin' Brody decided Memorial day would be a good day to bring out the chain saws to saw down the tree that is on her house.

I had bought a cigar to cap the evening, but two chain saws, a yelping dog and the bitch cooing to the squirrel's, "Sorry mister squirrel, you'll have to find a new house," drove me inside.

The kids later made 'Smores but I passed as I didn't think they'd go so well with Mirror Pond.
