I am making a craps table today after work. I have just a 36x72 felt craps cover that I am going to glue down to a piece of plywood and then use 2x8's for the walls.

Anyone ever glue felt before? I don't want something that will soak through the felt and show through onto the gaming side. What kind of glue would be good for this? I'm thinking something I can possibly roll onto the plywood and then just set the felt on top and let it set.

Or would i be better just stapling the thing down? I'm just worried that with stapling, it will eventually loosen up. I really want it snug.

not my area of expertise...but I think you would be better off pulling the felt as tight as possible and stapling to the bottom of the plywood?

Well, in looking on the net, I see PVA glue is best for this kind of thing. I probably need to thin it down though.

Go to the hardware store, and get some spray-on contact cement in a rattlecan.

I don't claim to be any sort of expert whatsoever, but that's how I've done a pool table in the past, and that's how I've seen the pros do pool tables.

Spray it on, let it tack up for a few minutes as per manufacturer's instructions, set one corner, stretch it out, and work your way around to the other corners.

With the sprayable-type, it's easy to control the application rate, and makes it easy to avoid the pooling that's going to lead to any of the adhesive soaking through the felt. Might want to trim the corners so they fold a little flatter. Maybe you can find a tutorial online, and if you can't find one for card tables, maybe there's one out there fo pool tables? At one time, I had a picture book that showed how to make the pockets on a pool table tight, but those are inside-round corners, so I can't suggest an actual trim pattern...but you're a pretty smart guy, you'll figure it out.
