Contrasts in Traffic Wardens

Post by Dr_Phibes »

In Capitalism:
City wardens suffering as attacks soar

THE number of attacks on parking wardens in Edinburgh has soared in the past three years, according to new figures.

Over the last three years there have been 364 attacks in the Capital, with wardens hit by car doors, attacked by dogs and even grabbed by the testicles.

The number of incidents in 2003/4 was just 91, but figures for 2005/6 show there were 130 attacks, an increase of nearly 43 per cent.

The official breakdown of incidents highlights that wardens in the Capital, where almost half of the 513,716 tickets handed out in Scotland last year were issued, are facing a wide range of dangers.

In one incident a warden was grabbed by the testicles by a member of the public who "would not let go".

Another believed he had been shot at by a crossbow and another was hit by a golf ball.

Councillor Andrew Burns, the city's transport leader, said: "There is no excuse for abuse against parking attendants."

In Socialism:

At the general control room.

The traffic control team of the Sinuiju City People's Security Bureau keeps lots of letters of thanks from institutions, enterprises and residents. Most of them are to its head Kim Yong Su.

Working scores of years in the traffic control, he has updated the city’s traffic control system and established traffic order, contributing greatly to the prevention of accidents beforehand and is loved by people as he has done many laudable deeds. There is the slogan "We serve the people!" in his office room. The letters the traffic control team has received are a proof that he has worked sincerely in the past with his men cherishing this slogan set forth by the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The letters are impressive; they say about the thanks to him for his utmost care of the war veterans and ex-disabled soldiers living in Tongsong-dong, Sinuiju City, and the thanks from the people in Ryucho-ri for his endeavour to repair the bridge in the
village when it was damaged by floods, and so on.

Kim Yong Su has one thing he never forgets to emphasize when he organizes work and has talks with his men. It is that they should become true servants of people by doing more than one laudable deeds every day. And he always shows his practical examples to his men.

Sounds like Utopia.

Why don't you move to North Korea, Pheebs?

You could report back on what a great egalitarian society it is.

Except that internet access is tightly controlled, so no doubt you couldn't access this message board.

But what the hell. Go for it.

I'm with you on this.
