Have her check out this link:
Things could be worse
It might help her knowing that we all suffer in one way or another.

Wife and I just signed "remove the feeding tube" clauses on our Last Will and Testament. We didn't want a Terry Shaivo situation occur to our families.
This is not a DNR or even a remove from life support clause. If it is determined we will be in a vegetative state, pull it out.
In all honesty, I was against it at first, but the wife talked me into it. Take care of your family and these kinds of decisions with your lawyer so your family doesn't have to be put in the situation of having to make these decisions.

QUICK ANSWER:

She must be kept alive until the bitter, painful end, because a bunch of conservative Republican, Bible-thumping pantloads have decided it's for the best.
If she was the family German Shepherd should could be put to sleep.

Jsc810 wrote:The situation: close family friend with end stage cancer, now at home with hospice. Yeah, they say that the medicine allows a peaceful, painless, dignified death.
They are wrong.
She hurts, and nothing we’ve given her stops the pain. I cannot fully describe the frustration in this situation. She deserves better than this.
Then find something that does fucking stop the pain. Addiction is not a concern and neither is an overdose, if you think about it. If her condition is as bad as you describe, it won't be long until any dosage of pain meds will be enough to end life. Do what you have to to keep her as comfortable as possible and let nature take it's course.
And my question for you is if you would do such a thing, then how would you do it?
Have a nice day.
Right now, I'm watching my mom die a slow death from alzheimers. She can barely walk, won't eat or drink, doesn't know if it's day or night, or winter or summer.
I wouldn't want to die that way. At least I don't think I would.

The hidden blessing is that she no longer realizes that she gave birth to you.

Take her to the Indy 500 and hope for a crash and well-aimed tire into the stands.
