Tarddowen: We can get the bike, but we'll have to travel three years back into time. Then we'll need to sail across the Adriatic Sea fighting off hydras and griffins before we can claim the treasure map that has us skyrocketing into space.
Tarddowen's bud: Sweet. What time do you want me to pick you up?

I couldn't, though.

Hehehehe. Sucks to live in a Slurpee machine where they put condoments on the road.Toddowen wrote:He said that he wants me to search on ebay for him for either a mid 80's Suzuki GS 1100 E, a Yamaha RD 400, or a Yamaha RZ 350.
I know where to get at least one of each of those models, in pristine condition for the most part, right now.
My buddy has what may be the pimpest RD400 Daytona on the planet(which I found for him, years ago). He might even let it go one of these days. I think he even has factory parts, as well as the DG heads and whatnot. Sweet, sweet bike.
Got another friend who I'm sure would probably part with either his 83 GS1000E, OR his 83 GS1100ES.
Got a couple of other old friends who literally own a barnful of RD350's (along with some 250's, and others in the RD series).
Good luck with that, though. Your friend is probably going to be paying through the nose. Out West here, there's this place known as "San Francisco," which is the "Motorcycle Capital of the World"(called that for damn-good reason), where's there's massive interest in collector's bikes, and massive disposable income. Collector bikes go for a mint in Frisco.
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one
Dins, you couldn't possibly know the answer to either question you posed so maybe you ought to think before you post something so generic and useless.
Besides, no, if you're from a real bike culture such as Jerez or Bologna you sure as wet fuck aren't moving to San Francisco in order to experience their very lightweight biking community.
As a motorcyclist I'd much more readily move to Europe than move to San Francisco. San Francsico's main draw for motorcylists isn't the bike culture, it's its proximity to so much world class riding all within a couple hours ride of the Bay Area.
San Francisco has a nice bike culture. Lotta bikes roaming around, and even a nice appreciation for vintage bikes...
...for an American city, that is.
Go to Rome and you literally have to be careful not to get run down by a motorcycle every moment you walk the city. The San Francisco/Rome bike ratio is easily 50/1 in Rome's favor and you're lucky if you see ten "new" bikes per hour compared to the literally hundreds of eclectic old bikes per hour you see them using as their daily transportation.

How much would he be willing to part with for the nicest fj1100 you ever saw?
I'll be down that way next saturday incase he's interested. I just bought it from my best friend and not really looking to sell, but, I still got an itch for an enduro thumper, most likely a klr 650. My buddy would probably be pissed if I turned around and sold it on him, but, oh well.
I'd really want to get a fair bit more than book value. I've got 2200 into it including tax and reg.
Tod, do you have a bike?
