What a perfect day for a launch, I too am awaiting further American dominance of the lower orbital plane.

Especially after spending the last year and a half in Europe and being told how arrogant and despicable we are.

America, Fuck Yeah!!!

Even before this latest problem with foam, NASA administrator Michael Griffin had decided to proceed with the current launch over objections of his chief engineer and head of safety.
What a fucking genius, does it blow up on liftoff, or do we get fireworks 10 days from now?

I might watch.

BTW, the Shuttle program has served NASA well and all, but it's time to put it out to pasture.

A bit cloudy here, but I can see the plume of smoke. Night launches are much better.

I've been able to see the shuttle when its a dusk or night launch.

Any of you ever heard/felt the sonic boom when it re-enters? Amazing.

Yea the camera views were some of the best I've seen for a launch. You can track the shuttle or the space station Here. It will give you real time data for both . just click on the one you want and will give you lots of info. I think it refreshes every 10 seconds or something like that.

You are one lucky bastard. What I would give to see a launch.

My flight from Heathrow to Houston laid over in JFK and then Miami and I was able to view Cape Canaveral from above on a crystal clear day and all I could think about is what it would be like to actually witness a launch.

The good Lord willing I will my get my chance, however, like SoCal said, it does seem time to scuttle the Shuttle.

Yes, I was at the first landing with Robert Crippen and John Young at Edwards AFB. John Young was a wingman with John Nicholson and Everett Alvarez back in Vietnam in an A-4 attack squadron.

I have a picture with both John and Robert signed for my young tard ass back in the day.

This is a great Zysdale day!

Much love.

when I was on the kennedy, f-14s would do a low level SS flyby when they did an airshow. The entire fukking ship just about jumps out of the water. Pretty amazing.

The space program is a waste of tax money. Sending people into space, endangering their lives, for nothing other than wasting fuel.

Saw a launch while waiting to get my wisdom teeth yanked in bootcamp in Orlando in 1992. Pretty cool to see a little black dot and a 4-inch rooster tail of fire. Something I'll never forget.

I have watched from the same vantage point. Actually, it was on the other side of the base, the front steps of nuke school. You can appreciate how fast that thing is moving out when you realize that it is about 40 miles away and it is still moving reasonably quickly across the sky.
