I understand it's kinda warm for most of you.
Sunny and 73 freaking degrees today...BODE.
Supposed to hit triple-digits by the weekend, though...oh, well.

You forgot to mention that nice pleasant breeze off the ocean today....letting just the right amount of marine air into the Metro area to make it one of the nicest days all year.
Supposed to hit triple-digits by the weekend, though...oh, well.
A couple of 100 degree days... oh well Portland averages 11 days over 90 degrees every year. We have had 6 to date, so we are on the down side of that bullshit.
And I do have central AC... so I don't really give a fuck. Work a half day, sip a beer or 2, play the guitar, take a nap, watch a movie.

My grandmother had a saying:
"Bobby, it's hotter than a .45"
God bless her soul.

KC is in the throes of what will most likely be eleventeen days in a row of triple digit temps...but it's not the heat, it's the humidity that will make you miserable...
nahhh, it's the fucking heat. The low temp this morning was 81.
About this time of year, I'm considering a move to Alaska.
Then again, I'll be heading down to Beaumont. TX in a couple of weeks for one last "softball vacation" before my daughter heads off to college. I see from the weather maps that it's actually cooler there right now.
Can't wait.

Same here...and it never, ever gets turned on(except to keep it from seizing up for a few minutes a year).
If it's too hot to be in the house, that obviously means it's time to hit the river.

Thats the same theory you apply to your yard water isnt it? Or is it your lawn mower? I cant keep track.

Grass hasn't been watered yet this year, and it's still green, due to being fertilized at the right time, and letting it grow long as of late. When it starts browning out(like most of the neighbor's yards are starting to do), it'll probably get cut very short, and be an attractive shade of brown(front yard is shaded, rarely browns out).
Hasn't rained any appreciable amount in weeks and weeks. Then super-heavy silted soils pay off this time of year. The hard crust forms as soon as it warms up, and it seals in all of that winter rain underneath...ideal setup.

In!
Hopefully, KC's bullpen won't implode tonight like they did in Detroit after building 4 run leads in the early innings.

Told ya' so.
Here's an idear, Royals reliever Joel Peralta...you just got a call from the the ump on a ball six inches outside. thusly not walking the bases loaded, and Mirabelli showed up the ump with his disdain for the call. How's about you throw the next pitch about 12 inches outside and see what happens, rather than grooving a MEATBALL right down the middle?
Still, just a tied game. This ain't over yet. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
HELL NO!

However, it WAS over when Buddy Bell decided to yank Hudson after completely shackling the Red Sox thru six innings....
It appears that we aren't interested in winning baseball games these days.
I'm so bummed out by this.

Here in Honolulu it's pretty much like every other fukking day of the year, eighty something, nice breeze, not too dry, not too humid.
Would you believe they actually bother with a weatherman here on the local news. I think he's there pretty much for the surf report.
Back in CT, the wife reports that it is pretty fukking horrible.
My ball sack says thanks, once again, to you taxpayers for shipping me here.

Yesterday was a projected record high temperature for the day -- 96. I don't know if we hit it, I was more concerned with other things.
Today brings a little break from the heat. High today is projected to be 86, and less humid than yesterday.

The compulsive liar...ERRR, "weatherman" says there's an outside chance that this weekend, it might break the record for the hottest temp ever recorded in Portland.
I won't bet the rent on it, but Liarman claims it's going to get fairly warm over the next few days...and be 80 and sunny today.

RACK
It's funny to see the Chowds in such a grumpy mood after being swept at home this past weekend.
GOD how I hope the Red Sox suffer some major catastophe that'll lay a good foundation for another 86 years of misery starting this year.
They deserve a nice dollop of pinstriped bird turd smearing down on thier faggot Jetta windshields on their way to a Provincetown love-in.....the fucking flakes.
Ummmm Oakland took 3 out of 4. Not exactly a sweep in my book. Still above you guys in the standings. You finally feel better after that worst collapse in sports history??

its been 80 so far this week. Supposed to be in the 100's for the next 7 days. Humidity? what's that? AC has been on in the evenings to keep kitchen cool. It'll probably be fired up 24/7 this week.
Any bets on how many tards will drown under the Colorado Bridge this weekend? we're up to two on the summer, but I think darwin is gonna make a serious run this week.

Shit...it's not that you guys are without transplants...but let's face it -- when it comes to getting overrun with idiot transplant greenhorns, you're our AAA farm club.
Culminating with the July 4th weekend, we had a run of 13 drownings...
in 12 days...just in the Portland Metro area. Hell, they even have lifegaurds at the two main points of Darwinism these days. But, I'll give you Drysiders your credit...nice job working your Survival Of The Fittest on the mormons last week...that was money. They spent a freaking
year training in whitewater,
to drown with a freaking lifejacket on. Heck, they were mormons...they can't even blame it on alcohol, like 99.9% of all the other rafting deaths. Shiiiiiiiit....I've run that river too blotto'd to even walk...I guess God just hates mormons.
Class 4 rapids + sheltered mormon girls = Thinning the Herd

82 degrees.
Yesterday was in the high 90s though. I'd rather have two feet of snow than that crap. It drains all the energy out of you, and all you want to do is plop on the couch with the AC buried.
And yet...people actually choose to move to states to experience that shit nine months out of the year. I just don't get the appeal.

I'll take "neither."
If I want to see two feet of snow, they have these things called "mountains," and I can just drive on up there and check it out. Even today.
Come to think of it, some morons are probably going to be skiing and snowboarding this week in the blistering sun...enjoy that skin cancer. Watching people come off the mountain in hot weather is a hoot...you almost want to crack their claws open and dip them in butter.

I like the snow.
Sure, there's times you just don't feel like scraping your car off. And the occasional 35 mph on the freeway isn't too darned convenient either. But in general, I enjoy the winter.

Yeah, for myself, those "times" are...never.
We have an unwritten policy around here...we don't scrape snow off our cars. We call whoever it was, wherever we were supposed to be, and tell them "it snowed...I can't make it today. See you tomorrow."
This last winter, it snowed a total of about 55 feet on the mountain to the east. It snowed approximately a half-inch at my house...a pretty big snow year for here...
The way it's supposed to be.
