Coming This Fall To A Football Field Near You...

Post by the_ouskull »

...or maybe NOT so near you...

the_ouskull, everybody's favorite the_ouskull, could quite possibly be coaching football in additon to the teaching gig he just landed. If not football, which is NOT a gimme at all (I'm going to meet with the coaches after I move, but before school starts...) then basketball is another possibility and a preferred one, honestly. Either way, it's nice to know that sometimes hard work DOES pay off...

...eventually. (A lot of guys go to college for 13 years...)

Anyway, wish me luck, fuckers. Small-town Oklahoma (well, medium-sized town Oklahoma) is in for a suprise. :D

Go get 'em kid.

Kudos and all that.

A lot of people go to college for 13 years. They're called Doctors.

In that regard, I went to college for seven, albeit not consecutively (I'm a lawyer).

We're you in college for 13 straight years, Skull, or was there some goofing off involved in between? Good luck with the coaching job.

Couldn't have done it faster than that. Actually, I suppose I could have. I went into college with a few credits from AP courses, so if I had gone to summer school, etc., I possibly could have graduated in three.

Come to think of it, I took some time off in law school and did a clinical internship, so it actually took four years (3 1/2, to be precise).

-- Arrived at OU in August (actually July for a week, then August) of 1992 as National Merit Scholar. See also, Sooner, Frozen.

-- Left OU as a two-time academic casualty in the Spring of 1997.

-- After getting grades back up at local CC, got BACK into OU in the Fall of 2003. Promptly made a 4.0 and the Presidents Honor Roll. Got invited to lunch with Boren himself. Turned it down as I don't swing that way.

-- Graduated in May of 2005 with degree in Sociology and English Lit.

-- Got alternative certification to teach.

-- Got job. Will still post on here too much.

Good luck with the job.
You teaching an English class then?
I wouldn't anticipate "Blackboard Jungle" type shit in small town Oklahoma, but you'll have that one smart ass that'll try to play ya.
Hey, you could have a phone book on every desk the first day and tell'em there's a story that would put the fear of God in each one of the little basturds.
Just for starters.
If you land the coaching job try to be on the defensive side of the ball.
Good fun teaching attack rather than protect.

Don't worry about coaching. Lol. I've been working on a defensive scheme for the HS level for a few years now, and it is attack, attack, attack. It's worked really well in simulations, but so do my knees, so who knows, right? :D

Thank you, everybody for the love, though. This board has been one of the things that's helped keep me sane through the long, strange trip.
