8:50 PM: mingle with the locals

2:00 AM: head back to the hotel

Sep 9th -
10:00 AM: wake up, grab breakfast
11:00 AM: head to the Buckeye tailgate
11:01 AM: talk some trash about Mac Brown and Colt McCoy
11:02 AM - 3:30 PM: enjoy the wonderful sights of slightly drunk Austin women
3:30 PM: head to a bar to watch Washington @ OU
4:30 PM: start the simultaneous enjoyment of UW @ OU and PSU @ ND
6:00 PM: head to the Buckeye Bash (mini-hiney gate)
7:45 PM: make our way to the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium
7:55 PM: settle into our seats, make friendly with the neighbors
8:00 PM: GAME ON
11:00 PM: head back to 6th St to celebrate the Buckeye win

I didn't really feel the need to note all the drinking that will be occuring because I am sure we all have a good idea how that will go.

~bump

8 days, mofos.

My schedule has changed...I'll be spending September 2 up on lovely Presque Isle (in Erie, PA) with my family...just a little weekend outing. It's better to do this for the AKRON opener rather than the ND or OSU weekends...

In that case, you must be planning on joining PSU @ ND in progress. Kickoff is 3:30 local time. At 4:30 Austin time, the game will probably be in the 3rd quarter.

Ahhh whatever dude, I will be drunk and on the verge of OSU vs UT, like I give a shit. But yeah, I went the wrong way with the time zones, guess I will have to start my PSU cheering a little earlier.

Man, I can't read this shit anymore!!! Being stuck in a fucking plywood tent is going to miserable knowing CFB is going on in the rest of the world. If I don't get a big fucking Caribou...the hunt will be depressing....

Anyhoo...if I forget before I leave...good luck to all teams represented on this board! Except of course the asslicking Gators and Miami! FMFFM

Hey Chief, if you pass a Howard Johnsons on your trip would you hook me up with a nut log?

BTW, your not fooling anyone. We all know your geeked about going for the big boys. How many times have you waxed your bow this week?

Posted: Fri Aug 25, 2006 11:30 pm
by TheChief
LOL!!! Fuck off...I have waxed it after everytime I have shot...can't afford to get up there and have a broken string or cable.

Also, I do have to say...I am shooting a fucking tackdriver all the way out to 40 yds!!! My switchback is SWEET! Best I've ever been shooting in my life! If I see a nice Bull, his ass is going down! My dad and Bro say that they will shoot the first hairy animal that walks past them...I have a feeling they are going to shoot COWS!!!! Regardless, it truly is a trip of a life time for a dedicated hunter, so I'm not bitchin....but don't think for a second that I wont be wishing like crazy that I could get the scores from the day and see the highlights!@$%#%$!!!!!

Even though I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about (Howard Johnson???), IF by chance I see a Howard Johnson's I'll hook you up bud. We are driving to Montreal and then flying 900 miles due north. Do you know off hand where one is located? If it is on the way I can make sure that we pit there for a sec.

My timeline will be determined upon how much beer I drink the night before.

But any way you slice it, CF will be watched almost the entire day. Life is good, but life will soon be much greater.

Howard Johnsons? Your drunk man. You have got to quit hanging with Frisco. Obviously he is a bad influence on you. HoJo's is a hotel chain thats been around as long as the bible. they have gift shops that sell, or used to sell, killer pecan nut logs.
Sheeeeesh, I know I'm old but do I have to teach you guys everything?

Who the fuck chooses to go hunting ON THE FIRST SATURDAY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL, and then WHINES about it after the fact?

Simple. Hunting is MUCH more important to this dude than CFB. And CFB is as important to him as his first born son.

So, you see why the guy is hunting on the weekend where his team (FSU) is playing Miami?

I know...for most of us here, CFB comes first. For Chief, hunting does. That's why I'm going to mow the score of the game onto his front lawn. We live in the same town ya know. He'll love me for it.

B TW, I believe that HOJO now flys under the banner of Stuckey's.

In my excitment over the nut log I forgot to submit my time line.

Wake up Sat. morning and say shit........ I still have 2 days left till I can see mt Noles.I will find comfort in watching the other games while I wait.

BTW, one of the characteristics of kids with aspergers is they get fixated with thier intrests. My boy has really developed a jones for FSU football and he's driving me crazy with always wanting to break down the Miami game.

Frisco pretty much answered this question but ...

See fuckstick, my father, my brother and I are bowhunters at heart. We are trophy whitetail hunters from October through December. While the Whitetail remains our passion (bowhunting), we do also like to hunt other BigGame animals together (Elk, Bear, Turkey and now Caribou). My father is closing in on 60 yrs old and my bro and I would like to get in as many BigGame Adventures as possible with him while he can still efficiently operate a 70lb Compound Bow.

Now, I tried to book the hunt for the week before College Footbal Season started as the Caribou season runs for three weeks beginning this week, but the first week and the third week were already booked, leaving open the middle week. So as you can see I had little option, especially since we were focused on using this outfitter due to their success with bowhunters.

Naturally I am going to miss watching CFB opening day and mostly the FSU/MIAMI game and since I frequent this board, I know that there are many here who can actually understand my dilemma. I'm certainly not whining, just stating that I am going to truly miss not being able to see the games.

Dins, what does that mean...."slow elk"? I've never seen a slow elk.

We have two tags which is why they are dead set on shooting the first thing they can that has antlers!! One thing is for sure, they have the mindset that coming home empty handed is not an option! That is a good mindset to have, but if we hit the migration right, there is no reason that I shouldn't be able to arrow two bulls.

Good for your son! He needs to make you think....keeps the mind sharp and the anticipation high!

As for HoJo...of course I know the Hotel Chain....just never imagined anyone in their right mind would actually visit the gift shop while staying at one!!!!! I'll see what I can do, you pecan nut lovin freak!

It's not like my boys going to a wedding or something like it. Besides thats what we have vcr s for. Even though chief can't work one, he has partners covering him.

Way OT here, but wasn't there a guy who posted on one of these boards who used to go by the name of Slow Elk? Dude claimed to have played briefly for the A's, IIRC . . .

Better still you should go over to his place and teach him how to turn his t.v. on and off.

If my smiley faced thing worked....it would be giving you the finger right now!

Frisco, Thanks man but I already have the TiVo under control for the Miami game. It's the second game that isn't going to be televised....not even on PPV.

That's why I need UBB Code superstar to help me out...;)

My version of the day:

Wake up at 9am with a splitting headache. Buddy had his wedding the night before. Curse said buddy. Think back to October 15th of last year and immediately call said buddy and thank him for being a man and having his wedding on a Friday during football season.

10:00am - Turn on ESPN. If two metrosexual "cowboys" are screaming "We are coming to your citaaaaay!" then my timeline for a new TV will be sped up by a few months and I head to the nearest friends house/bar.

Between 10am-12pm, call the wife when ESPN starts preview the ND season. Laugh at Corso. Give kudos to Herbie for his keen insight. Genuflect at the sight of St. Lou. Punch the screen when Mark May is on. Question why it didn't hurt him. Realize that I'm still drunk.

Also between 10am-12pm - Start with the hair of the dog that bit me.

12pm - Flip to ABC and catch the tail end of the ABC pregame. Wonder why the "L-O-A-N than the number 1" guy is breaking down the match-ups and realize that I must be drunk because Aaron Taylor isn't talking out of the side of his mouth. Realize that I need more beer after ABC decides to spell "Aaron Taylor" as "Andre Ware". Realize the loan guy had a pretty good coaching record at Auburn.

1pm-3:30pm - Watch Vandy scare the living crap out of UofM for a half, and then UofM pull away to a 33-14 type victory. Try to play close attention to how the "new and improved" UofM defense looks. Look to see if Earl Bennett had a big day. Smile if he did.

3:30 - Surf for the ocho looking for the PSU game. Watch their defense and also how Morelli does under pressure. Text my buddy and joke about all the ND recruits under Ty. Start to worry about our linebackers.

7:00 - Welcome ND buddy and his wife to our place to watch the game. Make sure the fridge is fully stacked with Image

Order the football pack from Papa Romano's.

8:18 - Hit my knees and thank the almighty as Charlie walks out and I see that San Jose State pulled their starters in the 3rd quarter.

11:30 - Drink in celebration of an Irish win, no major injuries, and the start of hopefully a very special season.

I'll skip GameDay for the following reasons:
  1. No doubt, my wife will have some sort of "honey do" project lined up for me on Saturday. She's been talking about me cleaning out the garage. If I want to be able to watch ND in peace, I'll have to get it done or at least make a substantial dent in it.
  2. If I had Lefty's gun collection, when they got around to talking about ND, I would probably wind up putting a bullet in my TV set, my skull, or both.
Oh, and did I mention that I hate having ND play on Saturday nights? I thought it was some kind of law or God-given right or something that ND plays on Saturday afternoon, dammit. With a night game, I'm gonna feel like a caged lion all day.

Skip the honey-do list and fly to Hawaii. Problem solved.

Myself, getting ready for the school-year, visiting the cemetery to share a Guinness with my Dad, barbequing, and drinking a vat of Guinness for ND game.
