Heard this morning that FSU and miami declined to re-up with espn for next years labor day party. I hope they both agree to move that game back to mid season. Personally I need a month to 6 weeks to work myself into mid season form.

It was generally played mid October- the 5th or 6th game for FSU.
They did play it as game 1, I think it was 89 or 90. Miami spanked FSU 31-0

Yep, usually the same Saturday as OU-Texas ... otherwise known as Football Nirvana Saturday when those two games were on the same day.

I just remember my senior year in HS when Miami went to FSU and it was nearly a riot as the Canes wouldn't back off to allow the FSU mascot to throw a spear in to the ground at their feet.
Was also the hardest hitting game I think I have ever seen, FSU eventually won.... I know it was around Halloween cause I was watching the game as I was getting ready to go to Halloween Haunt at Knotts. Would have been 1989

I'm glad it is getting moved back to mid-season. I would rather our offense have a couple games to get the kinks out. I am excited as all hell though for this year's game down in Miami.

I agree. I think we have a pretty good shot of winning down there this year.

My sister in law is with the county sherrifs dept. In the mid 90 s she arrested the Miami mascot for dis-orderly conduct. true story.

Thank God this finally stops this year. It only happened again because Miami officials bitched about not have a Labor Day game two years ago because the Hurrican delayed the game a week. The first week of October is always the best for this game.

09-03-1988...a horrible day in FSU football history.

Miami - 31
FSU - 0

The noles came out with a rap song preseason. It blew up in their face. I personally think this was the most talented FSU team of all-time.

1988: 11-1-0

I like having a big game to watch early in the season. It does suck for the loser though to pretty-much be out of the MNC-running so early, but as long as that loser is Miami it is a very good thing.

Bitch dont be haytin on the U. All the haytas out there just aint got enough gangstas to compete. We ready for the tricks from tally and gonna smoke them like the 5-0 who get too close.
