This article sucks but the last three comments are priceless.
“Between 41,000 and 71,000 deaths, with a best estimate of around 60,000 were attributed to excessive ultraviolet rays exposure (in 2000),” the WHO said in a statement. Besides causing sunburn, cataract and other skin disorders, these rays contribute as much as 90 per cent to the development of melanoma.

I think we should NUKE the sun and take it out. That would save 60,000 lives a year.

We all need to go underground
and live in caves like the Eloi--
If John Kerry was POTUS-it would
not be necessary !!

They are trying to ban smoking on California beaches. (maybe they already have).

So the cocksucker that wants to light up on the beach will get ticketed for violating a law that is designed to eliminate harmful second-hand smoke. Meanwhile, the cunt laying next to him, covered in vegetable oil, will proceed to sun herself for 8 hours.

fuckin' liberals.

All these idiotic laws attempting to protect people from their own stupidity aren't good for the integrity of the gene pool.

Natural selection, people, is a beautiful thing.

Problem is, that argument works only if the people being killed off are relatively young. If it's killing off people in their 60's and 70's, who otherwise would have lived into their 80's or 90's, the natural selection argument doesn't matter. Those people are already done breeding, in any event.

This "science" is of course based upon a control group that has been kept in complete darkness since birth, right?

Oh well, sounds at least more credible than the secondhand smoke "debate." I guess the sun will never be quite as politicized, since it's much harder to claim moral superiority when dealing with the sun.
