Good Deeds

So I've been asked to help out the people at City Hall here in Jax. There's a room where sexually abused kids wait before they are called to testify in court. It's dingy, dirty, the furniture is old and nasty, and it's oh-so-boring. The walls are beige, the carpet is gray, there are no windows. It's a depressing place for troubled kids!

So I'm gonna go all HGTV on them and redecorate the entire thing! Totally for free. I'm gonna paint a fun mural on the walls to get their minds off of their lives for a few minutes. Maybe some kids playing on a playground. And some swirly, calming, poetic verses floating in the sky to give 'em something to read. I'm gonna make curtains out of fun fabric for the two-way mirror. I'm gonna help them pick out a cool sofa, a colorful rug, and repaint the old brown furniture to add color.

I'll probably take off from work for 4 days to do this. Vacation days aren't a huge deal to me as I'm pretty excited about helping out these kids! I am turning 30 in two weeks and feel like I haven't done enough with my life, so hopefully this will open a lot of doors for me and get my name out there.

I can't wait! Aren't good deeds the best?!

Yeah, that little mural on the wall will help Little Johnny forget about his grandpa's cock in his ass.

You've already proved you cannot simply a good deed simply for it being a good deed. Plastering it on a message board to get praise is self serving. No run off to your next meeting. I can't wait to hear what stupid shit your boss has to say next.

Will you marry me?

Naw, I guess not.

Truthfully, the important thing is that it is a nice gesture for the kids, even if the motovation isn't about them.
Sorry, that came out wrong. I meant to do other nice "volunteery" things. City Hall is great exposure. Would love to get my foot in the door with other organizations that may need help!

I was thinking this was a little harsh.
I won the Dins-For-A-Day Sweepstakes and wanted to test it out.

I don't see the problem in telling people about your good deeds. I think there's a good chance it will inspire others* to do the same.

*Normal people. Not you creeps. ;)

Get your foot in the door? For volunteer work?

You see the application process is brutal. They turn hundreds of people away at the door.

Some of these volunteer organizations are like Studio 54 circa 1978.

Yeah man, seriously... it's hard to find good causes these days.

I do a lot of good deeds.

My favorite is drinking lots and lots of beer.

It definitely cuts into my sobriety-time, but due to me selflessly taking one on the chin/liver, there's a lot of less-than-attractive women out there who wouldn't otherwise achieve sexual satisfaction.

I'm kinda giving like that.
