Scott Wolf, a closet homosexual, writes for the LA Daily News. He covers the Trojan beat and for the most part does a good job. He is, however, prone to running stories without doing enough research.
I can't tell you if the allegations are true or not, but I do know this: Brandon Ting wouldn't see the field AT ALL this season. Does the kid get on the juice to try and move up the depth chart? I'm thinking no...because he wouldn't move up the chart against the guys we have at the top.
If it's true, I'll be disappointed because he and his brother were good for the team in many ways. They are now going to med school here.
Would I be shocked if it's true? Hell no. On any given day any major program could have a guy get busted.

If the Tings dad wasnt a bud of Pete Carroll, they may have never been Trojans in the first place.
They are good kids, they had planned on taking lighter class loads this fall and starting med school in the spring, they did take their remaining classes this summer and graduated after 3 years and are entering Keck this fall. Wolf mentioned that Brandon may or may not have tested positive for roids and that was why they were leaving.

I dont think they could play football during their first year at Keck, class and lab load would be too heavy for practice and travel schedules. Their enrollment at Keck could have been expedited because of a positive steroid test by one of them though

I have to believe the coaching staff found out, and politely told them to leave the team because they'd never see the field again.
Too coincidental that the kids announce their choice to leave due to med school right before this came out.

Their Dad performed surgery on Bonds, is what SoCal radio stations are saying.
Fuck that "classload at Keck" shit that SoCal is saying. No way they quit because of that. Who wouldn't delay grad school for a year to play (or even sit on the bench) for one of the premiere college football programs?
Not buying that story at all.

You are an idiot. Their future is in medicine not football. Staying on the team, they wouldn't see the field all year so leaving the team doesn't have a whole lot of impact to them.

He's a prominent sports medicine guy in the Bay Area, and Carroll knows him well. He's done surgery for a boatload of other athletes, not just Bonds. The Bonds angle that some are taking is humorous.
PC's relationship with the dad is part of the reason the Tings got on the team in the first place. Good kids, but not great players compared to the rest of the guys we had. Lots of character, and role models academically. They saw lots of PT last year due to the injuries we had a year ago.

Med School can wait a year. If they meant to bail on college football, I'm not buying that they would have played Spring Ball. Med school gets you tail 10 years from now, College football gets you tail right now.
