While Oliver Stone's movie opens tomorrow; this is not about that. This is something different.

I suspect it will crash and burn in the New York and DC markets.mouse wrote:Sounds like it's on target to be a smash hit!

Paul,
Some advice.
Roll with it. The more you fight it, the worse it gets.
January 19th, 2005, @ 3:51 PM, the faux pas of faux pas(s?) occurred. While mine was a mistake as opposed to intentionally blatant, it took me 9 minutes to come correct. I joined in the pile-on. If I took your tact, I'd probably have replaced Irie as one of the biggest bitches on this board.

I saw it and it is very good movie, well done. Not much detail of the events we already knew except on the tvs playing it all over and over, the amazing ability of the two port authority policemen who made it out is agonizing to watch. Keeping themselves alive by talking to each other about random things while having flashes of thier lives passing every so often, just gripping. The acting of their wives played by Maria Bello and Maggie Gyllenhall are oscar-worthy no doubt. See the movie!

Are you sure he paid for it? Must get some nice discounts with his SAG card.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Shame on you for paying to see this garbage.jtr wrote:I saw it and it is very good movie, well done. Normally I would agree with the statement. Oliver Stone usually has some kind of political agenda behind his movies. This was different.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Shame on you for paying to see this garbage.jtr wrote:I saw it and it is very good movie, well done. Great movie. Well done. The story is not what you think. It is about the 18th and 19th guys pulled from the rubble of the towers. There are no political statements, no rants about this or that, just a well acted, well directed film.
I would recommend to anyone.
Tagline: The World Saw Evil That Day. Two Men Saw Something Else
Viewed it last night. I was skeptical when I heard Oliver Stone was coming out with this movie, but the positive reviews prompted me to see it. Very well done. Not exploitative in any way. It is a very personal perspective of the two officers, their families and comrades.
I also saw United 93 and when I talk of the movie my friends & family have asked: “Why did you want to see it…why did you want to hurt all over again?” My reply: “I haven’t stopped hurting. Go ask anyone who lived through Pearl Harbor if they haven’t stopped hurting.”
Rack Will Jimeno and John McLoughlin as well of the other 18 first responders who were pulled out after the towers collapsed. They went in there to save lives. Never, ever forget what they did.
Rack Dave Karnes, the former Marine who essentially said: “Fuck it. I’m going to Ground Zero!”
The “Olivia” scene at the end will bring you to tears.
Jimeno and McLoughlin were just a handful of people who survived that day. This is their story of survival and appreciation of love for family and friends.
