Cal got a nice recruit for themselves.
Shane Vereen from a local school here just committed. A very good back with tremendous speed and athletic ability who's also a top student should help a lot. Congrats.

With that news, he is now officially the best running back in the Pac-10.

The Revolution is here! GPA 3.8

Seems like an impressive young man.
I liked that he sees it as a "40 year decision" and being a basketball "defensive specialist" tells me he is willing to do the unglamorous grunt work.

Mansion will have a decision to make – go to OU where he can play for a national title, or go to Cal where he can learn from quarterback guru Jeff Tedford.
...
and play for a national title.
The choice should be a pretty darned easy one. Look at the doors that have already opened for Brock since his commit. Plus, a Cal education or an Oklahoma education?
It's a toughy!
P.S. 4-star on Rivals. #2 rated "all-purpose back" in the nation.

Believe the Heupel wrote:You do realize that every time you pimp a Cal education, Berkely drops another slot in the USN&WR rankings, right?
Believe the Heupel wrote:How many of those Tedford QBs are actually starting anywhere right now, anyhow?
How many Tedford qb's are in the NFL and how OU qb's are in the NFL?
P.S. Dilfer won a Super Bowl.
There's a reason Troy Aikman left OU to play in the Pac 10...

Believe the Heupel wrote:Er, yeah. Because he got beaten out for his starting position by someone who won a national title.
How did that qb do in the NFL?
Aikman ended up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Believe the Heupel wrote:Since you didn't answer the question, how many of QB guru Jeff Tedford's QBs are starting in the NFL right now? Take your time.
David Carr.
Aaron Rodgers should be starting in Green Bay, but he's playing behind a fossil that's a legend. He's been playing better than Favre... just check out any Packer board and you'll hear the same thing.
Harrington will end up starting in Miami... check out his stats in last night's game. His first pass in a Miami uniform was an 20 yard TD.
Once again... how many qb's from OU are even in the NFL?

You're an idiot. I've stood next to the kid. He's a legit 5'11" and around 185 right now.
What's size got to do with it. Regina Bu$h is doing pretty well. Maurice Drew will do well, Barry Sanders had a pretty good career. Greg Pruit had a pretty good career...........

One of my favorite College Players ever...
He was robbed of the Heisman by J. Rodgers

Pruitt averaged about 8 and a half yards per carry in 1972. say what you want, but that's pretty gaudy. 8.5 per touch?

the largest I have seen the kid listed as is 5-10 and 180 lbs, skinnier than Drew-Jones and smaller than Bush. Course not being from the Santa Clarita area like you are Im sure Im just unaware of his immense talent, he's obviously as great as all the other great kids from the area like ummmm like..... well Kyle Boller. Im sure there are other great players from that whole Canyon, Valencia, Hart area, they seem to have produced a few good HS teams, I just cant think of any of them doing anything signifigant since leaving Magic Mountain

Oh my God, you're a comedian now. He does have immenst talent. He's got tremendous speed and he's gong to do very well at Cal. There have been several very good players from this area who have excelled in college. Granted very few of them have attended SC because they have GPA's trhat are well above what your school is used to.
Nate Longshore will start at QB for Cal this year
Ben Longshore who is a senior will get a D-1 ride.
Vereen has his ride
JJ DiLuigi has a full ride to BYU
Tyler Lyon is at Arizona on a full ride
Alex Pettee will get a D-1 Ride this year
There have been 19 all CIF QB's from Hart High School
Many have gone on to play in the Pac-10
SDSU has a starting LB from Canyon
Brian Jacobs-UCLA
George Kase UCLA
Jamie Wolocko West Point
Steve McKeon West Point
David Neal-Nevada
Boller-Cal
Mike Kocicka-Va Tech
Michael Herrick 10,000+ yds passing in HS Ole Miss
I'd keep going but it's just not much fun kicking your ass anymore.
