Paterno was asked to comment on Keith Dorney's election to the College Football Hall of Fame. "Keith reminds me a lot of a guy who I coached at the Hula Bowl many years ago, Dan Dierdorf," Paterno said. "They were very similar. They were big and strong, but they both had great technique. The only thing was Dorney got an education and Dierdorf went to Michigan."
You think anyone's fired up for some payback?

Maybe he's just senile....

"Senile"? He's the same as he ever was - obstinate, stubborn, prickly, and sometimes kindly and ingratiating. He was always very kind to my grandmother when she attended the Quarterback's Club with my dad. She was about 20 years his senior. Her football hero was Jack Kemp, from his Bills days...and he talked to her a bit about him. I always respected that side of him.
Paterno's getting old, his sight is not fabulous, he is steeped in his old ways...but "senile" is an erroneous description of the man.

He won't be around long enough to even his record vs. UM. Joe can keep bumping his gums, we'll go for #8 in a row.

What is it about schools with the word "State" in their names.
It is just part of the deal, you have to hate on Michigan?
I guess 100 years of whooping everyone's ass will earn some anger.

The worst part of the slide PSU took from 2000-2004 was the losing streaks they built up against not only UM, but Iowa, Minny, and Purdue.
Losing 7 in a row to Michigan, though...totally unacceptable. Michigan is a program that, until PSU joined the Big 10, didn't even have a MNC as a goal, apparently. Bowl wins were not something they really seemed to collect, either. They were happy dusting up on the sub-par big 10 for decades...when PSU came in to the Big House in '94 and won, UM folks were utterly shocked at their temerity. How dare a conference team do such a thing? How was it even possible?
The thing that UM folks are going to understand, though...PSU isn't a team that suffers winning streaks gladly. Yes, you've owned Paterno for 7 years, but the program is going to rear up and slap you weaSELS DOWN FOR A SOLID DECADE OR MORE.

You have had 2.5 very succesful years in the around 15 you've had in the Big Ten.
Penn State fans hold on to a dream, a legacy that was a paper tiger. As an independent you beat up on DII schools and weak east coast teams. Because of your status, you were able to dominate the east coast.
From the time the Shittanys got to the Big Ten you've been reminded how human, and average your program is.
Maybe you'll beat Michigan again, but it won't be a 10 year thing.
And if it does happen, I'll be the first to buy the rounds at Leopolds.

BUWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
Michigan has had its ass whooped 18 times the last five years. But that really isn't fair, because 4 of those came from one team: Ohio
State.
Typical...
Its been a rough couple years, but lets not forget the history that leads up to this coming season. A Michigan fan denying the current situation would be like a suckeye denying the 90's
No leopolds for you :)

Typical. At least none of our victories required your QB throwing a charity TD to one of our defensive backs.

"You're going to hear all about Notre Dame tradition," he began, "and you know what? It doesn't mean a thing unless Knute Rockne leaps out of the ground and tackles you.... When you put those black shoes on tomorrow, and you put on that jersey without your name on the back and you put that plain helmet on, that's tradition. Penn State tradition!"
ok, so that smack's from 1982, but still...

It'd be better though if it wasn't directed at ND, which happens to have a similar understated tradition; a tradition that also has a much deeper and much more glorious legacy than PSU's...
Smack like that is best run at Miami or FSU, not ND.

understated tradition
Understated? Sorry, we'll get right on that...

Didn't Diedorf play for the Cards back in the 70's.
Someone had to have written that joke for him. There is no way he could have remembered anything from that long ago. I'm pretty sure the guy can't even remember who he played last week. Judging from those Coke bottle glasses, I'm pretty sure he didn't see the game either.

You gotta love the old man just jawing at some of these teams. He's done with all the respectful pregame talk.

Understated, meaning ND still has an old school uniform and helmet and they still attempt to conduct themselves in an old school traditional manner, just like Penn State.

It is hard to put the word understated in the same sentence with Notre Dame.
Penn State has an old school feel...
Notre Dame has been annoying and out of control since the day Michigan taught them how to play football.
