Anyone else totally annoyed by him last night?

I get annoyed when he says something that others around him have already been saying all day.

I enjoy PTI because I like the format and I expect him to debate with that wind bag, Wilbon. I don't expect him to take the same approach to MNF.
He'll be gone next year, guaranteed.

We'll see how this goes for an entire season...it's been mixed opinions from what I've heard and seen so far. It's a preseason game and I don't think anyone was on their A-game anyways. Tirico wasn't bad and Theismann was his usual self...I'm on the fence with him and I don't know good he is without having McGuire to work off of. I wasn't excited about the whole idea of this announcing team from the get-go and I'm annoyed by the constant self-promotion ESPN has been doing. They act like the broadcast and presentation is bigger than the game itself. People will because it's football, not because you have some dog and pony show in the booth. As long as the games are good, I never worry about the announcers. If we get the typical snoozers, I'll be channel flipping and no broadcaster would keep me watching. Short of throwing in some really over-the-top personality that would probably offend more than entertain, I don't see this working but it might go better than the Dennis Miller experiment because he was over most people's heads. I think the MNF brass want to try to find the next Cosell-like persona to be that third man.

Personally I like listening to Troy Aikman. I think he is, by far, the best color analyst for any network. I can listen to just about anyone do play-by-play without it impacting my enjoyment of the game. It's the analyst with their Marcus Allen remarks that irk me.

Exactly.
Theisman doesn't bother me like he bothers some of you. But I'm not going to be able to listen to Kornheiser if he continues as he did last night.

Kornheiser should be working for E!
He knows more about American Idol and Survivor than he does about any sport in the last 10 years.

Buck-Aikman-Collinsworth is a booth that actually adds, not detracts, from the game. Can't say that about many.

By far the best.

I consider him a tabloid sports journalist. He only cares about teams and athletes in the big cities and about the athletes and personalities who are surrounded by contraversy. He's in his element when he gets to talk about Barry Bonds, T.O. and Red Sox-Yankees. I wonder who he's got pictures to have the career he's had. If you remember, CBS briefly showed a sitcom somewhat based on his life and now he's on MNF. I've never been too impressed with him as a personality and as a sports mind. He's just a talking head that gets off at the sound of his own voice.

... like I said in Luth's thread, there's just not enough hate in the world.

I can do without Patrick. I'd like to see Brad Nessler in the spot with Theismann and McGuire. That would be a good team. The only downside would be that it takes a quality voice out of the booth for college games.

Anything with Theesman and McGuire would be a pile of shit.
Might as well add Phil Simms to that booth with Collingsworth on the sideline. That way I'd be sure to tune them out!

I missed most of MNF, but if Kornheiser's reaction to being "ripped" by his co-workers at The Washington Post and by Mike Golic is any indication, Kornheiser's pretty close to the pinnacle of bitchdom.

You have to be fucking kidding, or copying someone who was kidding.
That booth was the worst in the history of mankind!

theisman used to melt like a pussy in that booth.
maguire would use and abuse him, then joe would whine and cry, then rant, and as always, be incorrect in his assumption.
that booth was horrible, very time you would get into the game, theisman would cry, make up some stupid shit, and then get cunt slapped by maguire.
buck/? is a solid booth

It was on Mike & Mike and I can't find any transcripts --
this article mentions it -- but Golic basically said Kornheiser was "okay" on MNF. Golic's comments were anything but scathing. Then they played a clip of Kornheiser on The Dan Patrick Show going off on Golic, saying he was just jealous, etc.

I'm not a Theisman fan by any stretch, but the games I watched were always different from what you're indicating. Theisman was usually getting the upper hand on Maguire.
Any given game you could count on both hands how many times after a replay Maguire was telling Theisman, "Ok, you got that one right."
Theisman was just a little more observant than Maguire.
That booth wasn't the best, but it was the most "entertaining," for however little that's worth. There was nothing Theisman or Maguire could say that would go "undebated."
