Apparently, Junior Seau wasn't ready to retire just yet, despite his impassioned claims to the contrary.

Seau retires and preaches
Hear former Chargers and Dolphins linebacker Junior Seau preach at his retirement press conference after 16 seasons in the NFL.
League sources have confirmed that Seau, who announced his retirement from the NFL just three days ago, will fly to New England on Thursday night and likely sign with the Patriots as early as Friday, according to a report by the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Patriots, desperate for help at the linebacker position because of both free agency losses and injuries, were interested in Seau last week when they heard he was thinking of retiring, the report said.
Seau, 37, is expected to play inside linebacker for the defending AFC East-champion Patriots. Starter Tedy Bruschi has missed most of the preseason with a broken wrist.
Seau played his first 13 seasons for the San Diego Chargers before moving on to Miami, where he played the last three years.
Guess he isn't done over pursuing.

Damn thought this thread was about Willie Roaf...
Sin,
KC fans
The Kansas City Star reports OT Willie Roaf squashed speculation he would return to the Chiefs this season by again saying he would not play football this season. Speaking publicly on ESPN2’s “Cold Pizza” Wednesday for the first time since he told The Star three weeks ago that he was retiring, Roaf said conjecture that he merely wanted to miss training camp was wrong. “I’m not one of those guys who’s going to miss all the camp and then come back and play football,” Roaf said. “I don’t think that’s fair to my teammates and to the fans and everybody to do it like that. If I’m going to be there, I’m going to be there and be committed to the team. “I wouldn’t say the door would open this year. People keep speculating, ‘Well, maybe he just wants to miss training camp (because Roaf) didn’t want to be there.’ “I’m not a guy who would want to miss training camp and not do anything to this point and then go out there and play football. It’s too much time and stuff involved you have in the preseason to get ready for the regular season. I would say the door is closed.” Roaf indicated he might consider returning to play next season. “I’m done right now,” he said. “I can’t say never say never. You know Deion (Sanders) came back. Kyle Turley came back later on. But this year, I’m done.” HC Herm Edwards said Monday he hadn’t yet spoken with Roaf but planned to after he returned to Kansas City. “Until I hear it from his lips … that’s a conversation I need to have,” Edwards said.
Misery loves company.

Watching the pre-season performance thus far, I'd have to agree. Pretty much, they just mailed in another performance tonight at the Meadowlands. Methinks things will look a bit different when they strap it up at Arrowhead next week. Looks like the Herminator is trying to gets these guys good and boiling mad over being caged like this thus far.
They pulled Trent and LJ after just two series. Probably a smart move. Don't need no injuries at this point...but even if it's only pre-season, getting whupped like a stepchild sucks.
Oh well...I won't be shopping for shower rods just yet.

I was coaching tonight so missed most of the first half.
I'll assume it sucked.
Stats showed we got run over on D again?

At this point the Patriots need ALL the help they can get at linebacker, even a 37 year old 'retiree'. We have some depth at outside linebacker but the inside linebacker position is almost nonexistent due to either injury or inexperience. Seau may have a season left in him at the inside position. If he still has the speed to overpersue, BB has the brains to teach him how not to. Should be interesting.

Yes, kc fan, I promise this is complete without hate or bias.....you guys look like absolute shit from special teams to defense to offense. NY mowed you over. Is it preseason? Yes. But lord, show us something.......there's a reason the Jets let Herm go.

In a nutshell, yes.
They just did whatever the fuck they wanted, and as per usual, we laid back and took it.
Herm had better get this notion of winning games 17-10 out of his vocabulary.
Oh, and Scooty...Deadwood
still sucks ass...and so does paradise city.
At least the gratuitous violence in the Sopranos was kept to a minimun and furthered the plot.
Deadwood never even had a fucking plot.

Rack you on getting the steal of the draft...
ROC
Who’s hot: Ryan O’Callaghan – The rookie has taken control of the right tackle spot with the first unit, while Nick Kaczur has yet to step on the field. He’s looked solid in both practice and game reps and could be well on his way to getting the opening day nod whether Kaczur ever returns to action or not.

Good luck.

Seau's going to learn how not to be an egocentric hotdog at 37?
Good luck with that.

You need to have an IQ out of single or even double digits to enjoy the masterpiece that is DEADWOOD. No surprise that you don't get it.

I don't know about that. Too optimistic. Try 3 games this year.
You see, it won't take SPerm verrah long at all to lose the confidence of the players. It might have happened already.
That intense JOKE of a coach is one of the most moronic pieces of shit to ever stroll the sideline. NICE quota/affirmative action hiring... too bad the Chiefs had to make the sacrifice like that. The most laughable part of the positive things said about him is that he's a "motivator". Sure.
In the biggest of the big leagues, the NFL, motivation is created as the overall atmosphere of the program. Great coaches, no matter the personal delivery style, foster that in the organization, and get players to buy into it. SPerm? He's nothing more than a fukking drill sergeant. The Chiefs HAD a great coach-- a Field Marshal-- prior to this travesty, and the players all shall come to notice this complete difference eventually.
Last couple of years, they were lead by a first rate Leader with a grand strategy, a vision.
Now they have a mouthy fukker in the mold of that douchebag in
An Officer and A Gentleman.
As for his X's and O's
specialty... defense... maybe the brain rotted son of a whore could possibly clue his starting front seven in about elementary
basics like
shedding fukking blocks.
Good one Hot_Carl. You should feel proud that you're a civil rights champion, cuz as long as your handpicked choice of ass to kiss remains in that job, its the only kind of Champion you'll be.

HH, you as 'Boys fan should know from primary rooting source what I mean by Field Marshal: you've seen 3 legit within the last 25 years. Landry, Johnson and now Parcells. You've also suffered from the likes of a drill sergeant: Campo.
The Raidahs have a drill sergeant in charge too. But the way they build teams there, maybe some of that is needed.
And anyone persuaded that I'm picking on balcks, NO. Steve Spurrier was just a latrine licking private.
But Lovie in Chicago and Marvin in Cinci are rapidly showing they belong in the upper eschelon. Denny Green established himself as such in Minnesota... should he ultimately turn things around like that with the Cards he'll be a lock for all time great status.
For high school or a lesser college program:
...is fine. Maybe even for KC Scott's son's Jaguars team.
But NOT as an NFL head coach.

The Colts haven't won a preseason game in like 3 years and they've done ok in the reg season. The only goal of the preseason is to keep starters healthy.

Oh yeah, Velo... Cowboys fans know what it's like to have a stud on the Sidelines.
We also know what it's like having a less than desireable coach. Hell before Parcells we had a choice between...
And...

So far Herm is not living up to his billing as Tony Dungy. But pre-season is just that, so guess I'll give him at least the first four weeks of the season before I call for:

What plot, then? The few times I've wasted watching it, it was all like this Big Al guy was buttfucking the entire state of South Dakota and then shooting the money shot in their face...with virtually no consequences as a result.
Is that your hero?
Sure, that's
quite the entertainment option you've got going there.
Just what the hell do you watch Wags?
Sports, News, and documentaries mixed with an occasional old movie.
Oh yeah, and the only reason that I pay for HBO.
The Sopranos.
Tony Soprano at least keeps it real compared to that Al Swearingen psycho fuck that you think is the best character ever.
There might be a good reason why HBO whacked Deadwood...because it sucked to anybody above a 5th grade level of emotional development...the majority of HBO subscribers who actually pay the fucking bill.
Sorry Scott, but if you think that Deadwood is/was must see TV, you are the proverbial lowest common denominator in an entertaiment world filled with garbage that tries to pander to your profile.
But look on the bright side...you fit right in with Kaley.

Stick with cartoons and Gomer Pyle re-runs, Whitey. The fact you don't "get" DEADWOOD magnifies your stupidity, as if we didn't already know from the other shit you've revealed about your personal life.
