I met Mike Tyson. Yes, Iron Mike Tyson. Dude realy does talk like that and it took everything in me to no laugh. When I shook his hand all his funny ass sound bytes floated in my head and I couldnt get them out. I am debating if I should post the pic I took with him because you guys are terrible people!

I met him too about 3 years ago outside of a jewelry store. BFD. Hes a has been.

I met him back in 87 shortly after he became the heavyweight champ. I went to the Beastie Boys/Run-DMC concert here in san diego and was near the front row. After the concert the first few rows had to exit sort of by the side of the stage and there he was standing in the hall trying to pick up on some bitch. I was 18 at the time and thought when am I gonna have another opportunity to meet a heavy weight champ. So I walked up to him as he was talking to his next victim and he pretended not to notice me standing there. I was a persistant little bastard though and stood there for over a minute till he finally looked over at me. Said a few words to him shook his hand and went on my way. Think I remember hearing he assaulted a security guard in the parking lot a few nights later at the same concert in LA.

I call bullshit. I saw in the paper yesterday some freaks at a Star Trek convention and I knew right away why Crown was there. More likely he was drunk and shook the hand of some Klingon wannabe POS.

I have never met Mike Tyson.

One time a guy came in for tennis lessons and he said he wanted to get back in shape.
He said that he used to be a professional boxer, and that his biggest fight was against Roberto Duran.
His nose appeared to be telling the truth.

I can't remember his name now, but I did google his name then, and I found a log of all of Duran's fights.
The mystery man did not appear on the log anywhere.

File under meaningless trivia:

I went to high school "with" Tyson. He was two grades below me (same grade as my younger brother). I've got a Catskill High School yearbook from '82 that has his freshman class group photo. He's standing in the back row with that same goofy-ass Tyson grin. I show it to my students every now and again as part of the "Two Truths and a Lie" activity on the first day of school.

I scanned the photo years ago and BSmack slapped it up on his website for a bit.

I also have a box of Tyson crap my folks collected (articles from Catskill Daily Mail, a genuine autographed photo my mom got from him when he stopped by the town of Catskill office to pay a fine, etc.). The stuff is probably not worth a dime now, but I figure that when psycho-boy finally kicks, it might fetch me something on eBay.

It really doesn't matter at this point. Maybe you were Crown, maybe you weren't. Thing is, once something has been beaten into the ground for so long, it becomes "fact" by repetition. If enough people believe something to be true for an overly extended period of time, then truth it is. I know, it sucks. It's unfair.
