T1B Fantasy Football Gods

Post by verbal »

I am looking for a freebie. I have the 5th pick in our draft and cannot figure out who to take. First off rushing td's=6 passing td's=4. With that being said I know LJ will go first. Then I see it being Tomlinson, Alexander, Barber. Should I take Manning if it goes down like that? I mean if someone else takes him that leaves me with a good back. If I dont take Manning that leaves me with Portis, and his shoulder. Anyway it's a shitty spot to be in. I would appreciate any insight you might offer. In return I promise to buy you beer if you ever end up in Grand Meadow Minnesota.

Portis, Steven Jackson, Ronnie Brown, Caddy and Rudi would all be viable options here and more favorable than Manning, IMO. Of course, I usually get stuck with the likes of Bledsoe, Brooks and Ramsey as my QBs, so take that with a grain of salt.

I'd go with Rudi Johnson based on consistency. If you think Portis will fully recover from his injury grab him instead.

Take Barber. The guy in the 4th spot is a retard and will pick Manning.

I'd grab Manning - after the Top 4 backs (with Portis Hust now) there is a talent drop off. You can fill your roster with similar stat RBs in round 2-4.

Portis would've definitely been the 5th pick on my board if he was healthy. Depending on the size of the league and if you are doing the snake...that affect whether or not you go with a back or Manning. I'd say Rudi Johnson is probably the 5th best back with Portis being banged up. Brown and Williams are potentially top-flight backs this year but I'd go with Johnson at #5 if you want to go with a RB. You can throw James and Steven Jackson into the mix in that second-tier group of the top backs in fantasy football. If you're in a 8 team league and you have a snake/zig-zag draft where you'll have the 12th pick coming back...maybe you can take Manning at #5 and still get a decent RB at 12. If you're in a 10 or 12 team league however, go with Johnson and hold off on taking a QB until later. Most good fantasy teams are lead by a strong group of RB. Get one of the top guys early and then find some diamonds in the rough later in the draft.

Remember to draft kickers early on and you can also trade for a running back later...

Alright Gods,

Keeper League
Holding
Rudi - Gore
Moss - Horn

Domnaick Davis prolly gets himself and his bum knee cut.

Have 5th pick, might be able to get a decent but young back.

Deal on the table: Moss for Foster.
Injury vs Brooks/implosion?

Make this happen, I probably draft Mason to replace Moss in the first round (I doubt there will be a better or higher potential receiver for 2006 here at this point).
McNair to Mason better or comparable to Horn to Moss?

With the 5th pick?

No wonder your wife won't let you get in a league.

This year? I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I think Jackson is going to have a break you year considering Martz is gone and the new offensive coordinator LOVES to run the ball. Edge will be Edge despite the line because the Cardinals know how to throw the ball. It's not as open and shut as you might think. But then again I've only been doing this for about 12 years with few champions to show so what do I know?
