Lelie to Atlanta, Duckett to Washington, Draft Pick to Den.

ATLANTA -- Filling their need for a No. 3 wide receiver, the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday night acquired disgruntled Denver Broncos veteran Ashley Lelie in a three-team trade, ESPN.com has learned.

The Falcons sent former first-round tailback T.J. Duckett to the Washington Redskins and the Broncos will receive an undisclosed draft choice in the deal. The Falcons have been shopping Duckett in trade talks much of the offseason.

Atlanta's need for a No. 3 wideout was heightened when veteran Brian Finneran suffered a season-ending knee injury early in training camp. Denver has been attempting to find a trade partner for Lelie, who did not participate in any offseason drills and had not reported to training camp.

And so ends my hopes of Lelie ending up on a team with a REAL QB. Looks like i need to go ahead and dump hi in my FFB league. I picked him up in the 13th round thinking he might get his act together in Denver or get traded to a team that will need a #2 receiver.

This opens the door for Jerry Porter to the Eagles for a second rounder.

No it doesn't. He has no shot of coming to the Eagles.

Typical ESPN reporting. Lelie's a No. 1 wide receiver. :meds:

Works for me. Dunn is one of my backs. Maybe he'll get some goal line carries finally now that Duckett is gone.

Now all ATL has to do is pray that Vick gets hurt and Schaub takes over.

So dude refuses to go to training camp & racks up a half a mil in fines because he thinks he should have automatically been the #1 receiver & Shanny dissed him by bringing in Walker ahead of him- yet he gladly accepts a trade to a team where he's told up front that he's the #3 receiver?

Instead of his name across the back of his jersey, they need to sew "DUMBFUCK"

Lelie IS the #1 in the ATL. You don't think he's going to be behind Michael Jenkins, Roddy White or Jerome Pathon?

Lelie is not a #1 in Atlanta or anywhere. Get serious.

Of course, he's the #3. He missed all their camp, doesn't know their system and, quite frankly, hasn't shown anybody that he has what it takes to be a #1 in the NFL.

He is a solid number #3 who can run real fast in a straight line. That's it.
Perfectly said.

What's to know about the system? Its not like their QB even knows their system. All he has to know is how to run back to the ball on the rare occasions Vick manages to put something on target after scrambling.

We're talking black-athlete here. I wouldn't be surprised if he started the year on the practice squad. If they got him just to return punts, he might be ready for opening day.

Gee, I don't know. I suppose we could start with the plays.

:meds:
We could. But it's not like Vick follows the plays anyway. Why should his recievers?

I'm sure the "NFL source" was a member of the Broncos organization. The truth remains that if the Falcons did not see Lelie as a #1 kind of reciever, they would not have given up the 3rd rounder they got from the Skins for him. And even a retard like Cuda has to know that Lelie has a FAR better chance of suceeding in the ATL than he ever had in Denver behind Smith and Walker.

The truth remains that you're a fucking moron, Monica.

I think the argument is moot. CAN there be a #1 WR in Atlanta with a #4 QB throwing the ball?

I think it depends on what you mean by a #1. I consider it to mean a top tier reciever who would be a #1 on almost any team he went to. It doesn't just mean, the top reciever on a given team. It's comparabel to having an ace on a pitching staff. While you can have a staff that has their ace, in reality you may have a bunch of #2 starters.

I don’ think ANYONE thinks Lelie is a #1 WR in the NFL.

With the squad that is AT Atlanta, however, he could very well be their #1.

I don’t think applying the #1 tag HAS to mean one or the other as long as you distinguish what kind of #1 you are talking about.

That pretty much sums it up. I'm simply saying that Lelie will be "the guy" amongst a bunch of recievers who would have trouble cracking the lineup on most NFL teams. Whereas in Denver he was #3 and falling.
