Not at all. Two friends' bands. OP were from Chicago (mid-nineties). Eventually became Drag Me Automatic. VL were Aussies (also mid-nineties). Two of them went on to be in Boydotcom.

These guys look like Poison and sound like they just heard Rockaway Beach for the first time and just HAD to go out and write a song THAT DAY.

In other words, pretty fuckin bizzare. But that's not exactly a slam in my book.
