As one who lost my home and saw my friend, family, and coworkers scattered, it is not a day I recall fondly.
However, I will not sit around and mope, weep, or bitch that "woe is me". Nah, fuck that shit. That's for losers. I've picked myself up, moved to Houston area, and started anew. One day I will return to my home country but for now, I'll make it through, and even be better off, because there simply is no other option in my mind.

Great post, JSC. You said a mouthful.

How in hell could they be? When you build a city below sea-level, you're just asking to be flushed. I drove thru there 3 weeks ago (bad idea) thinking I'd spend a few bones there and help with the tourist recovery. Man, that place is
still fucked up worse than some third world countries.
Why in hell anybody would want to re-build there is beyond belief.

Don't tell that to the boys from Columbus GA, or you'll get a baseball bat shoved up your ass.

They'll just be making a detour on their way home from Williamsport, PA.

Good for them. I hope they beat Japan too.
But I'm still trying to figure out how LLWS smack is making the south look like a more desirable place to live.
Buttfucked-in-the-mouth logic, much?

They already beat Japan, doofus, and there're LOTS of thinks that I'm sure you're still trying to figure out.

LOTS of thinks
Pretty much.
Like why Whitey's bandwagoning
a LLWS team from a state not even in the same region as his.
And beyond that, what it has to do with ANYTHING at all.

Because they are from the USA, and I've actually been to Columbus GA. Spent a week there last year during ASA Nationals.
Ever heard of the Chattahoochie river in that Alan Jackson song? Now you know where the inspiration came from.
Very nice place.

They ARE home. Get used to them. They will never have the means or resources to move back.
What cracks me up about the whole "rebuilding" effort is that there are THOUSANDS of perfectly good abandoned homes up here in the Northeast that are ABOVE sea level that with a minimal investment could be rehabed into homes for those who are currently living in FEMA trailers. But we would rather piss money back into the swamp that is New Orleans.

Even better. After they're evicted they'll probably qualify for some kind of refugee status. Amazing that it is down to 2000 or so people who have not found jobs. That means the rest of the refugees have already found jobs at rib joints and assimilated into your city.

Wow. Just wow.
Unreal.
Who cares if FEMA goes broke, and can't put a roof over somebody else's head for a week after a disaster, as long as I get free housing for another year.
Deplorable.
Should have built a fence around that city, not a levee.

I don't think anyone blames rescue workers.
I have to wonder about the brief news blurbs I've seen of Bush claiming the fed was going to help, followed by current images of miles of devastated gulf coast neighborhoods.
Can't help but think that diverting a few billion of those wasted iraq dollars into our own pockets to rebuild on our own soil might have been the way to go.

Granted, there were several thousand who should have left.
But you must be referring to the people in nursing homes and hospitals -- you know, the ones whom you wouldn't have wanted to spend a dime on in order to help get out?

So the people who needed to be evacuated can't drive the buses? I know black people can't swim but are they so helpless that they can't drive either? No wonder they love Democrats so much. God forbid they do something for themselves....
