When I lived in Japan I saw a guy on a moped with some live fish in a net, hanging from his neck while he tooled around in traffic. Every now and then the fish would flip around and I'd see the guys moped veer this way and that.
In China, I didn't see as much as those photo's showed in Vietnam. I was in our tour short bus (sup' LTS :) ) one day and I did see this guy who weighed no more than 130 pounds on a motorbike. He had this bamboo pole over the back of his neck, running along his shoulder blades. At the end of the poles hung many sacks of rice. I don't know how much it weighed but I can tell you this...I couldn't have done it. The weight from those bags would have compressed my shoulders down to my balls and I'd look like Moving Sale at a break dancing contest.
Say what you want about some of the Orientals, but I think they might be some of the wiriest/strongest sum bitches around the world. If I ever find my Visa again, I might visit that country. To be honest with you, it was almost a coin flip when I was deciding between Israel/Jordan with Vietnam.

I highly recommend it. I spent 3 weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia about 3 years ago. Beautiful countries, fascinating and friendly people, and everything was dirt cheap.
And the traffic is about 1000 times worse than those pictures convey.

Why not see more of THIS country before you marvel at others, if you're serious about enjoying the sights and sounds? I was lucky to see so much in my youth to appreciate what we have here. Rent a big comfortable RV and go for a trek a a few weeks in different regions at a time to enjoy what the other 95% from the boards live in real life. This one dude I work with saved for 2 years to travel Europe by backpacking it and doing the missjo thing while giving up his freedom to live with his parents during said time. He went away for 5 weeks and enjoyed every sight we've only seen in pictures or on TV. He appreciates art so he focused upon those type of European cities the most and loved it.
Upon return he said he enjoyed his experience and would never trade it. I thought he converted to a Euro-type American hayta as the 3rd world loves to crack on the Almighty US of A... As a liberal student of the arts he said he appreciates America even more now that he's experienced the 3rd World. He is all of 23 y/o and I'm proud of that tatted up fine individual!
God bless America and fuck those that hate us with N-bombs (U-239 enriched).

I do that stuff all the time around the farm.I tool about on little Honda Trail 110's,with the crome rack on the back. Everything goes on that rack with either one hand from me holding it on or a bungy cord tightly wraped about it.Probably 130 lb hay bales ar as heavy as Ive carried if you dont count passengers.

This being in Vietnam, I would have thought a Mopedload of canines would have been more appropriate.
Before my adventures took me to other areas of the country, I spent about three weeks in Saigon, most of the time in Cholon,
and at any given time of day or evening, the streets, as wide as they are, were crammed with those fucking two-stroke things...crossing the street was an act of bravery.

Transportation in SE asia is very different from here. When I was over in the philippines in May of this year I took some pics.
This is the main form of transportation outside of Manila, where these things are not allowed to be driven for safety reasons. They're called pedicabs and they can fit as many as 8 people. All it is is a 175 dirtbike with a two wheeled metal frame welded to it:
These kind of vehicles are now very popular over there, as they only cost about $2500 USD and get great gas mileage, but they are so odd looking:
Another type of $2500 dollar car:
It costs about 10 cents to get from the airport to the boat dock (about 4 miles) in a pedi cab. There is no regard for road rules, either:
In the big cities, the mode of public transportation is a jeepney, or private hire. Essentially a tricked out Mexican Party bus, family owned and decorated:
I should probably get off my ass and run a travelogue from my trip over there, but I'm lazy, and busy, and I'm going back in October sometime so I get to procrastinate.

A BJ costs about 20-25 bucks in any of the many "massage parlors" located throughout the main cities, but you get a full body massage with it and you don't have to smell the driver. :)
The massage parlors are like low rent brothels there. We went into one of them to see what it was all about, and there's a shabby poorly lit lobby with a desk, you tell them what you want (they told us they offered back, foot, and full body massages, and you could also get "The works", which includes being bathed by a lovely young woman of your choice, then a full massage, then a "happy ending" (fuck, blow, or hand), all for 20-25 bucks. Tipping is optional, apparently.
The women are then paraded into this room behind a glass window, they can't see out, I guess it was a mirror on their side by the way they were posing. There were about 20 women total, all shapes and sizes. They're all wearing numbers, and you basically pick one out, tell the desk clerk and go off to a room upstairs.
I believe they pay off the local cops to look the other way, because nothing is hidden behind lies. They just right out told us what they did there.
We also went to a strip club, which is a step up from the ones here. Nice comfortable seats, and for maybe 40 bucks four of us got drinks, a 2 hour show featuring about 12 different girls, and the option to get a private room performance from any of the girls we saw on stage for an extra charge (most of the girls come from the poor provinces to try and make some money and then get stuck in the industry and exploited)
They also had employees going around the room offering shoulder massages for 5 bucks while you watched and drank. All in all a very entertaining evening.

RACK Bushy for the great pics. When I saw that first $2,500 car the first thing that entered my mind was, TVO.
I don't know if someone 6-3 and with a 38" waist can get into one, but I'd like to have one. I don't go anywhere anymore, except up to Freddy's for some grub, or down the street for a beer.
RACK IndyFrisco too...for the Adam whore story for $300, Alex.
