But alas it is just the same ole shit, just different colours.Environment Minister Rona Ambrose's office is mum on why it took four political staffers to tag along with her to a trade conference in Vancouver at a cost of $14,345.
Ambrose, three of her aides and an assistant to the department's parliamentary secretary all attended a biennial West Coast conference called Globe 2006.
Ambrose flew into Vancouver on Thursday, March 30, delivered her speech and flew out the next day, the conference's last day.
Ambrose's senior policy advisor, director and assistant director of communications also flew into Vancouver on the Thursday, but appear to have stayed in the city until Sunday, according to Environment Canada's website. An assistant to Ambrose's parliamentary secretary Mark Warawa flew to Vancouver on Tuesday and also appears to have stayed until Sunday.
Canadian Taxpayers Federation federal director John Williamson said Ambrose's office must explain why four political aides were needed on the trip.
He remarked that the travel expenses, ranging from $2,208-$3,500 per person, did not appear to include the most affordable airfares.
