What is the deal with Brits and their avoidence of modern dentistry?
We all joke about the stereotyping, but let's be honest, it wouldn't be a stereotype if there wasn't some truth to it.
Is it a lack of dentists, are they too expensive, fear of the needle?

You know that if something is free it doesn't appear to have any value, so we just don't bother with doctors, dentists, or anything else that we don't pay for. I mean it will always be there when you need it...but then you get out of the habit of going in the first place. Only basic service is offered anyway, so it brings back a lot of shitty memories from when your parents' made you go (Because they didn't have free healthcare, we had to spend there share, too!) at the drop of a hat.
By extension this also goes for Psychiatrists, cosmetic surgery, etc. If you don't use basic madicine, so why go for anything more exotic and 'egocentric'.
Wierdly, though, to re-inforce the stereotype - we DO ruch our pets to the vet at the first sign of something even remotely off.
