Another great game...

hard hitting, and until the Pittman TD closer than I wanted it to be...

Rack Texas Fan, Rack the Horns

FUCKING RICKTY RACK Troy and Company...the defense, etc.

Yes there are weaknesses on the tOSU defense, but they stepped up and made plays when needed. Placekicking yes will become better with time.

Texas has a ton of talent and nothing to be ashamed of...Colt will be a fucking stud by the time his career is over...the one thing Texas was able to run the ball pretty effectively in spurts, but yet always seemed to hit a few decent runs then totally change up and I don't know just stop...didn't understand that...

Anyway great game, Texas fan enjoyed the smack and the Buckeye Faithful will have to think of sigs for you guys to wear until the end of the CF season like we agreed to.

Still bitter over that PF call that allowed Texas to get a TD.... how the hell are you going to call a persoanl foul on that play? Christ thats a fuckin option QB and theres no way buckeye lead with his head, he hit the dude with his chest.

Buckeyes 24
Longhorns 3

McCaunaghey paid off the refs

Good game Buckeyes.

biggest difference was execution. The Buckeye offense was surgon in their execution and Texas had too many mistakes.

I hope this win propels you guys to the same season we had last year.

I'm ready for my sig.

It was a questionable call that had no relevance to the outcome of the game.

Theres no question it was a bad call and at the time you had to think it could have had huge relevance in the games outcome. Give OSU props for beating Texas and the refs

Major props to the bucks. Great win a tough environment.

There were a few things that stood out to me:

1. We missed Tarrel Brown. Gonzalez had a field day. Troy Smith looked like Peyton Manning. Hopefully this is a wake up to the rest of the guys on the team not to do stupid shit before the biggest game of the season.

2. Colt looked like a freshman. He looked confused. All he did was throw to the check offs. I am still trying to figure out how we have this great o-line? They were totally overmatched against TOSU in pass blocking. I think that Colt will end up being a good QB but tonight wasn't his night. It really makes you appreciate Vince and all he did. TOSU has a great one in Troy Smith.

3. That fumble by Billy Pittman killed us. Not that it would have made a big difference in the outcome but it was a momentum killer.

Props to TOSU for the win. They look like a team that should win the MNC. Props also to all the buck fans here.....88 buckeye in sc, Sky, LB45. Good win. I just wish we would have made it a better game for y'all.

Yeah considereing they were BIG 10 refs...:meds:

Beating Texas and the Refs? The Refs were Big 10 officials. The Refs have a right to make that call as long as they are consistant it is part of the game.

I thought the refs called a pretty good game, I would not have liked the call if they called Texas for that penalty but I still would have understood.

Like I said, I'm glad the game did not hinge on that one play.

Props to the tOSU offense and defense for stepping up and putting their foot in our ass.

I don't think Texas missed Brown that much. It seemed no one in the secondary could cover. Most of the times the DBs were not just beat, but beat by quite a few steps. I knew going in OSU did not have a bunch of chumps but I really underestimated their team speed. They sure seem like the real deal. The goal line fumble and the TD toss to Ginn before half took pretty much all the wind out of Texas' sails. Too much to overcome against top notch competition. I was worried that Texas was overlooking this game in anticipation of Rice. Guess they were.

Big 10 refs does not mean they are pro-Ohio State.
That was a bad call, not a questionable one, the only thing to question about it is who paid the ref off to make it..
Option QB gets hit the second he throws an incomplete pass on 3rd and goal, the defender does not lean in to the hit or lead with his helmet, infact his helmet never even contacted McCoy. At the time it allows Texas to tie the score with less than 2 minutes to go in the half so you cant say it would have had no relevance in the games outcome. It was a straight up BAD call and the only reason you try to defend it is because it benefited your team

Damn, OSU looked good tonight. I felt pretty sure that these teams would split this series. The questions I had about the Buckeye defense were answered.

Not too sure this game answered too many questions. Texas racked up 355 yards of offense but continually shot themselves in the foot. One thing I did learn was the Buckeye defense can make the big play when they need to. I think you will learn more about the tOSU defense after Iowa.

I also think by the end of the year the tOSU defense is going to be champion material, and the Texas offense is going to be a lot better as well.

Laurenitis looks like a player in the middle but they don't appear have nearly the same talent as a unit as they had the last couple of years with Hawk, Carpenter and Schlegel. I'm amazed a team can lose so many guys on defense and not lose a beat the next season with an all-new group. Texas has a lot of athletes on offense but McCoy's inexperience came to the forefront. I don't think he lost the game for Texas...the Bucks clearly were the better team and the better QB won the game.

Troy Smith immediately jumps in front the early Heisman race in my book. Quinn had a strong day for himself as well against Penn State...I'd have him as a close second. I blindly picked Texas just because I wanted Ohio State to lose one early again this year but I completely neglected how clutch Smith has been in big games. He's probably going to victimize Michigan for a third straight year on their way to potential national title run. Props to the Bucks on a very convincing win on the road against a very talented team.

Greg Davis sucks. pre and post VY, he and Mack go in a shell against good teams....and play "conservative".

by campinfool
I think this is the first time in Mack's tenure that they lost when they outrushed the opponent. I think they are now 70-1. What really killed them was pass coverage and turnovers. 2 TOs resulted in 10 points. Can't do that against good teams. Looking back I don't think the play calling was too conservative. Colt had plenty time for the majority of the game but continually went to his safety valve instead of throwing it down field. Not sure who is to blame there, but hopefully it will be a rallying point for the rest of the season.

I viewed the game at a BBQ. Returned home early this morning and read the threads here. Good stuff. The sportsmanship here on this board matched that on the field. Imagine that? Great ingame thread by RadioFan especially jsc810's frequent one word commentary.

Great game. I was waiting for Texas to bust loose. They never got on track, especially in the 2nd half. Props to Tress for not going conservative and placing all of his faith on Troy Smith. This is his year.

It was interesting to see that Tress invited John Cooper to accompany the team to Austin. That was a class act. Obviously, he did not have a speaking role.

While tOSU needs to work on place kicking, A.J. Trapasso averaged 50.8 yards on punting.

Colt McCoy will be the "Real McCoy" I'm glad we're out of his way.

First time in a long while I've seen a Buckeye offense so focused early in the season.

99.9% of the guys here are a classy bunch and come correct without bitching and moaning after a loss (sup mTOOL)...

good threads abound and tOSU offensively is downright scary...

question for Texas fan even if they have Brown do you feel they were still no match for the tOSU WR's???

I don't think they were. Some of those WR were open by quite a few yards. Actually Aaron Ross is the best cover corner on the team and was beat preety bad on the Ginn TD reception before half. It's also not how bad they were beat at times. It was that they looked confused and out of alignment on too many plays.

The only diference would have been that Ross would have been on Gonzalez and Brown on Ginn. Would it have made a difference? Maybe, maybe not. TOSU was the better team.

The only thing I would have liked to seen would have been the outcome if Pittman had not fumbled on the 2. That was a huge momentum changer.

BTW....how can we get a punter? That guy was nails.

I also think they could have covered better if those OSU coaches weren't stealing the signals all game. Of all the nerve and no penalties for it either. Damn. To think we were 3 plays from winning that game. Sucks to be robbed of victory like that.

The aggsy have been calling him Dolt McCoy since Vince has left. But they are the same fools that called Vince Radio. They are also the same fools that haven't beaten Texas since last century.

BTW I also want to say that the tOSU punter was a huge weapon for you guys last night. Every time we thought we were going to get good field position he put us in a hole.

As for the question about T Brown. I think he might have helped on a few coverages but for the most part our DBs looked lost out there. It probably had more to do with getting crossed up as much as youth.

Our biggest problem was execution. On one play we looked great on the next we looked like we never played the game before. tOSU on the other hand executed to perfection, I can't say enough at how well Troy Smith played in this game.

That to me is what this game came down to, Smith's execution.

Does Mack Brown look absolutely befuddled in every game, or just this last game?
