1. Texas was no match for the Buckeyes. It has dicussed in a few threads already. I don't think though that Texas "sucks", was a "one hit wonder" ,or lacks quality "coaching". They got beat by a good team. The players did not execute very well, and they are like most other teams. A repeat is a bitch. I was real suprised Mack did not give Jevan Snead any reps.

2. West Texas Showdown. UTEP v. TT was a pretty good game. TT needs to limit those freaking penalties. Holding call wiped out a TD in OT and a celebration penalty almost yanked them out of FG range. Give that team discipline and a little more defense and they might be scary.

3. SEC is good. Auburn and LSU look to be the class of that league. Can't believe I'm actually giving props to a Les Miles team.

4. I owe an apology to Notre Dame. I thought they were way overrated following the GT game. Man did they look good. Looks like defense is the name of the game in South Bend. I, like many others, believed Penn State was going to work them.

5. Pat Hill and Fresno State are what most teams would love to have. Balls, guts, and players that don't quit.

6. Oklahoma looked better. But they remind me of some Chris Simms era Texas teams. Tons of talent, but plenty of bad tackling and spotty QB play. I know OU will disagree, but Thompson can be really off mark at times.

7. Rack the Zips for pulling off the upset.

8. Rack the service academies. They went 2-1 and AFA almost pulled off the upset.

9. My 1-AA Texas State Bobcats miss Barrick Nealy as much as Texas misses VY. They are still 0-fer against 1-A oppnents thanks to an ass kicking from Kentucky.

10. It's going to be a long season for Colorado fans.

i doubt there is an OU fan who will disagree that Thompson is "off the mark" at times. don't project your own homerism on us (Baylor fan). and Chris Simms was a colossal disappointment in big games (though, he didn't get much help from playcalling and dropped passes from the "Legend" in Holiday Bowl whenever). PT is starting from zero. bad tackling has been a Sooner trademark for a couple years now.

...and what's sad with the whole "bad tackling" thing is that the guys are still in good position most of the time, they're just caught up in going for the knockout tackle instead of making the play. Happened yesterday on the first play from scrimmage. The guy was hit 3-4 yards from the LOS, hard, but there was NO attempt to wrap up, so he just spun off of it and went for what, 54? Yeah.

Props to Ohio St, and many props are to be given to ND. They looked real tough, and I have gained quite a bit more respect for them after that one.

After 2 games, the ACC looks to be one of the weakest "major" conferences this year. No team looks dominant. Teams are losing to Div IAA teams (sup Duke) and struggling against schools like Troy St. I know it is early to draw any meaningful conclusions on conference strength, but it does appear to be a down year for the ACC.

10. It's going to be a long season for Colorado fans.

Hawk is going to wish he was back in Boise after this season.
