PSU vs. 1-AA Youngstown State

This matchup makes me :brad:

The mantra is that LaTech cancelled at the last minute, and there were few 1-A opponents available.

There were definitely 1-A teams available...maybe not ones that were willing to schedule a game at PSU with no return engagement, but...

As much as I love my team, I am tempted to stick to taking in the highlights this weekend. Perhaps PSU will get their feet under the ground, perhaps Morelli will set records, etc. I'm just not that interested in what they can achieve against a 1-AA opponent, really.

Chalk this one up as a win for the spreadsheet fans...

After last week you might need a speed bump to get back on track....plus it doesn't hurt when getting ready for tOSU.

I can't wait until Michigan pulls this crap off.

Nothing better than paying $100* a seat to watch your team pound a I-AA opponent.

*$100 is the total seat cost including the ri-goddamn-diculous Seat Licence I have to 'donate' in order to be eligible to sit in my section.

PSU, I noticed you picked MSU over Pitt in your pick'em. I assume you know a little about this Pitt team. Are they bringing back much more talent from last year? Palko looked decent from the bits and pieces I saw from that Cincy game...but yeah, it was Cincy.

The way MSU has handled home games vs Idaho and EMU (two of the worst teams in 05), doesn't give me a good feeling about this road game at Pitt...I don't see them winning, and I don't see MSU finishing above .500 this year because they won't be able to stop anybody, and the offense so far, which is all they've got to keep em in games, has looked erratic (even though Trannon has improved significantly).

A game at Pitt is more of a neutral site for the opposing team rather than a "road" game.

Pitt looked good against UVA, and shabby at times over Cincy. Pitt will definitely be better than they were last year. Amazingly, Wannstedt recently admitted he was wrong to try to impose his run-oriented scheme on a roster that was geared toward a passing attack. He's let things loosen up a bit, which definitely helps Palko out. Palko is a tough kid with enough talent to win games. Pitt's defense is aggressive and stingy so far. I have to give it to Paul Rhoads...I've been singing his praises reluctantly for a few years now. He gets a lot out of Pitt's defensive squads. Revis and Blades are both good defensive players.

Pitt has faced some real ineptitude from opponents so far. If MSU can excecute offensively, especially in the passing game, then this might be a good game.

I guess my pick comes from the idea that MSU generally does what you don't expect them to. In this case, I expect Pitt to be tough against Sparty...so I'm trying to play off my expectations.

Well, I still cant stand Palko. Mouthy motherfucker, is he. I will concede that he has some good skills and plays with intensity, but he's still prone to a few very boneheaded plays/game. If MSU can capitalize on on the ones he will inevitably make, it will be a good game.

Dunno what MSU'd pass D is like. If it's shabby, could be a long day for Sparty. But if they stand up to the task, MSU could easily win. Pitt lost their best RB and have two frosh splitting duty. They won't pose the threat that their vet did (can't remember his name) and therefore MSU can drop more back and pick Palko a time or two after he inevitably tries to jam a pass betwix three defenders.

The Gorillas should make a run in the d2 playoffs this year. They have a Harlon Hill Trophy front-runner at running back.....

wait...we dont talk d2 football here. People here refer to D-1AA as d2.

Nevermind back to your whining thread.

You wasted your 1000th post on the Pittsburg State Gorillas? How anticlimatic.

Props on the 1000th.

How about D3?

My Linfield Wildcats just lost their first regular-season game in over 4 years. Still ranked #11, at 0-1, though.

Despite a certain sig being displayed on this board, Linfield is THE winningest CFB program in history, working on consecutive winning season #51 this year(although they were NAIA until about 20 years ago).

Go Linfield.

All i know about D3 is that it is non-scholarship and Mount Union is a badass team at that level

Yes...yes they are. Not Linfield or anything...the winningest college program in history... but a perrenial powerhouse nonetheless.

There. I've completed the trifecta, and managed to spam post about all three of my CFB rooting interests in one day.
