Best Running Back in the Country???

We had to pull Marshawn after 1 quarter... it was gonna get to ugly.

6 carries, 113 yards, and a TD.

That's just 19 yards a carry.

Which running back has the highest yds per carry this year???

The World will see Marshawn in a few weeks vs. Oregon, and later s.CAL.

Here is Marshawn with nine in the box last year... and 200 yards later on 25 carries.

The Freak

With a 4.0 GPA... this isn't s. CAL.

It's the top academic University in the World!

Why was Cal even playing Portland State??? That's some serious bullshit right there.

Why can't the Cal rushing game ever show up big time in a big road game?

1'st he had 189 not 200 on 25 carries, sure 189 is impressive, and I may be splitting cunt hairs but did the team win? This is a team game not an individual one..

Do you ever post a single fact? every thing you post is complete bullshit..

If they put 9 in the Box then Ayoob should have had a feild day with the secondary right? RIGHT?
nope 88 yds on 10 for 26.. Nice.

Amongst running backs with an appreciable number of carries:

Garret Wolfe, Northern Illinois ... 8.5 yds/carry
Stave Slaton, West Virginia ... 8.1
Ian Johnson, Boise State ... 7.7
Javon Ringer, Mich St ... 7.7
Louis Ranking, Wash ... 7.7
Marshawn Lynch, Cal ... 7.2 (5.5 versus opponents not in I-AA)

I mean if you were honestly curious.

A rational man might list Adrian Peterson as the best running back in the country, probably by a wide margin.

I am not a rational man... AP should be hung by the neck until dead. Lemme get this straight: He grew up loving the Longhorns. Then, because he didn't want to sit behind the 2004 Doak Walker award winner for a single year, he went and turned traitor to the Great State of Texas by enrolling at OU. Now his fate is cast. He's stuck at an institution in turmoil. He'll carry the rock over 30 times a game, getting abused and decreasing his NFL lifespan with each week. He'll never get a national title, and will end his college career in futility with only one Big 12 title earned. Serves his punk ass right.

Leaving AP out of this discussion is 100% correct.

But how sweetly ironic would it be if AD "single handedly" beat Texas this year in the RRS before moving on to the NFL?

He'll have to go upstairs and "check with the manager first...he's in a pretty bad mood today, so you might have to take a counteroffer."

And after yesterday, you won't hear me dropping any name besides AD in this thread...same as my non-homer answer would have been two days ago.

And I still believe talent-wise, Jonathan Stewart is #2. Just needs a few more reps.

Stewart looked great.

I'd have pimped my guy Javon Ringer much earlier (top 5 in yards per carry), but I'd be talking about performances against Idaho, Eastern Michigan, and a barely-improved Pitt team.

Next Saturday vs Notre Dame will be more telling.

The funniest thing is ST not kidding here about AD. He viscerally hates that guy. He waxes poetic about it. He hates that guy more than Boz. He even hates that guy more than Barry Switzer.

In fact, his hatred of Jerry Jones probably doesn't even approach his hatred of AD.

Next up, you guys need to get him on a Texas tinged rant about:

-Chili: The right way to make it, vs the philistines who use beans who wouldn't know pussy from purina.

-Bar-B-Que: Cover it in sauce? You...are...a...fag.

-"Jihad Heads"

-The "Who deserves an ass whoopin'..." rules/lists.

-What is and is not a sport, and why.

Dude gets on one of his "lists" rants on a boring rainy Wednesday afternoon and it just doesn't get much better than that.

AP is a returning one time All American who is finally getting back to his freshman form.

Right now it's AP and then a decent gap to the second place running back. Only thing I'd say though to the contrary about AP is there are times when he just looks kinda slow...

It'll be interesting to see how he pans out in the NFL. Will he be a Shawn Alexander style runner, ie, very efficient, strong and durable but not the flashiest game breaker? Or, will he just get beaten up and beaten down due to his willingness to take the hit and his inability to avoid it?

You can't even drop a post into the right freakin thread for Christ's sake. I'm quite certain of this seeing as how Mike Hart, while good, shouldn't get mention in this thread of "Best CFB RB". Couple that with the fact I've never seen you post anything worthy or aprapos to a single thread, EVER, and you've got just another shit take from wolfman.

How you are not considered to be among the likes of jtr is beyond me. At least I can be content with my own thought that not only are you in the same company, you lead the effing pack of suckitude.

Numero ....zwei...(fuck the Mezzican version)...As a die hard Green Bay fan....Adrian Peterson WILL be ours! We ain't losin' 13 games for nutin! That means he IS the best running back in college football

Adrian Peterson 90 515 5.7 37 4

Oregon CAR YDS YPC LONG TD
Jonathan Stewart 46 315 6.8 25 4

Cal CAR YDS YPC LONG TD
Marshawn Lynch 45 325 7.2 71(TD) 3

Yes, let's...

AP = UAB, Wash, Ore...90 rush 515 yd 4 TD...not bad. He is #1.

Stewart = Stanford (#119 rushing D), Fresno St, OU...46 rush 316 yd 4 TD...good 3 game total.

Lynch = Tenn, Minn, DIaa...45 rush 325 yd 3 TD...equivalent to other PAC-10 dude

Hart = Vandy, C Mich, ND...81 rush 386 yd 4 TD...comparable to PAC-10 RBs

Irons = Wash St., Miss St, LSU…66 rush 322 yd 1TD…not many TDs

Wolfe = OSU, Ohio, Buffalo…74 rush 630 yd 4 TD…nice #s despite W-L and the competition

Rice = UNC, Ill, Ohio…83 rush 499 yd 6TD…great #s but subpar competition
m2 wrote:... Slaton??? Please.

Slaton = Marshall, E Wash, MD...62 rush 503 yd 6 TD...granted his competition is shit but those are good #s for 8 quarters of play

BTW…
[homer]Ore = Northeastern, UNC, Duke...48 rush 229 yd 5 TD...it is not his fault the Hokie D sets up such short fields[/homer]

Final verdict is that Lynch is clustered in with the rest of the pack behind AP.

Huh?

Marshawn plays against an SEC team that took the # 7 team in the country to a 1 point loss... and averaged 6.2 yards a carry!!!

Marshawn played against a team(Minnesota) which has beaten every team(other than Cal)...

106- 0!!!!! That's some good D, even if you're playing Akron!!!

Oh yeah, he only played 1 quarter against Portland St./ a very good 1 AA team and had 113 yards on just 6 carries.

Marshawn is a bad man and the best tailback in the country, hands down.

Here is another you can add to the list.

The two headed monster of Jamal Charles and Selvin Young.

Charles
att: 38
Yards: 263
Avg.: 6.7
TDs: 2
Long: 46
Avg per game: 85.3

Young, Selvin
Att.: 38
Yards: 249
Avg.: 6.3
TDs: 2
Long: 37
Avg per game: 79.7

Realistically those numbers are pretty average but the key is they split time and their average per carry is right up there with any of the guys mentioned above.

Talent wise the only back I would put in front of Charles is Peterson.

BTW i stopped hating Peterson when I got my first look at Charles.

Here's a novel idea...

If we're going to compare the stats of all these backs (or of teams in general) how's about we get realistic and throw out the controlled scrimmages?

Do we really care about some team's stats or some guy's YPC when two of their/his three games were against 1-AA or similar teams? Their O line was so dominant that dude wasn't even getting touched until he was into the secondary.

BFD.

How did AP do against OU's one real foe so far?

Charles/Selvin against OSU?

W. Virginia's only played Maryland so far...

Lynch against Tennessee?

...etc!

If you really want to know who's the best RB, hey, it'll be very easy to find out. Get 'em all playing equal competition. How's that ever gonna happen?

Simple. The NFL will sort 'em all out for you.

stuckinia wrote: Stewart = Stanford (#119 rushing D), Fresno St, OU...46 rush 316 yd 4 TD...good 3 game total.

In his defense, Stewart palyed the first 3 quarters against Stanford, then got injured late in the 3rd...with 168 yards.

Carries the ball once against Freson St, 3 yards for a TD. So that total is pretty much for 1.75 games.

That said, my vote still goes to Peterson.
