How good are the Chargers?

OK, they've played two chumps so far, but they've completely dominated both. They probably could have had another shutout today if they really wanted to. So far the defense looks surprisingly strong, but we'll have to wait until they come up against a decent offense to really judge.

Rivers looked totally in control today, completing 25 out of 35 and one TD. No int's in two games and no sacks. Most of all, no stupid plays. He's been getting a lot of time to throw, so you have to credit the O line, but so far I think that Rivers is surpassing most peoples' expectations. LT's "backup", Michael Turner ran for 138 today, including a late 75 yard TD run. Nice 1-2 punch to have at RB.

They get a week off before playing Baltimore and the Steelers. In three weeks we'll really know.

Don't get your panties too bunched up - not only did they play bad teams, they played arguabley the two worst teams in the NFL right now.

That said, they've got the basic formula for success this season - Strong running game and a stut defense.

week 4 at Bmore should be a good barometer of the Chargers

The biggest ? going in was Rivers. Their schedule has really been just what they needed to bring him along. Not too much pressure the first two weeks, ease him into the game and then a week off. The next two games will really tell, but he has shown a lot of poise so far.

Yes..... so far against paper mache' defenses Rivers has done OK. Of course not being in a position where he has had to pass is always a great way to break in a new QB.

My gut tells me he's going to get eaten alive in Bmore.

Eaten alive?
Your "gut" must have had some of that e coli brand spinach that we've been sending out to the rest of the cuntry.

Spoken like a true Squaw fan.
I'm trying to have a serious discussion here and all you can come up is wishful thinking and myopic hate.
Go away, you're not worth listening to.

The real test will be against Pittsburgh.

Mikey, I know the whole couch fan, bong hit "hey we're real good" thingy has you feeling all warm and fuzzy, but I'm just telling you Rivers has had zero pressure, zero pass rush and zero defense to go against these first two weeks.

BMore has a real defense and Rivers is going to have to make some plays.

Maybe he will, but I'm betting he gets his ass handed to him.

You just don't want to listen.

Great to have a froggy Blotfan spouting off after just two games, however. One that doesn't even normally post in the NFL forum, to boot...telling Scott the above... is freaking priceless on many levels.

What's the deal? No Rove or Cheney conspiracy theories to chase after today?
The real test will be against Pittsburgh.
Nah, what Scott said. B-more will be the real test. Get past that, and Pittspuke will be a cakewalk in comparison.

Oooooooh, I don't normally post in the NFL thread. Excuuuuuuuse me. Seems like you don't post "normally" any place you've ever attempted it, dickhead.

You midwesterners obviously don't read too well.

Didn't I title the thread "how good are the Chargers?"
Didn't I admit from the outset that they haven't really been tested yet?

You obviously have nothing to say.

Take your bong hit comments and your political crap, shove them up your ass, and come back when you have something at least marginally intelligent to offer besides "nah, they'll get their asses handed to them".

Has Johnson gotten his 2000 yards yet?

And you obviously are just a bandwagon riding Chargerfag who doesn't know a damn thing about football dropping bye to flap his gums whilst his team is on top after two whole games.

A couple of losses, and you'll go poof... as in disappear.

Just do us a favor and do it now.

If you're an example of what I should expect from someone who "normally" posts in this forum, maybe I should disappear.

Or maybe I should gain some respect by spamming the other threads with "bandwaggoner" takes.
If I do that for a few months, can I then start my own thread?

You obviously have nothing more to offer.
"Football knowledge" smack coming from you is definitely laughable.
Shouldn't take me much time or any brains at all to attain War Wagon status.

Does it really matter"?

You've stated being a Niner fan... and now you're a Chargerfan???

Stick to posting on "the other" board, tard!

Jeezusfreakingkreist

Between Whitey and m2 I've attracted about 98% of the entire board's tardosity in one thread.

I see the Bolts winning at least 12 games this year.

Kinda hard to say.
Rivers is looking better....still missed a couple throws, had some drops.

LT is LT.......Turner may be the best back-up RB in the league....the Defense looks MIGHTY stout....regardless of the fact they've played 2 crappy teams.

Next 2 weeks against Balt and Pitt will really tell the tale

Yeah, but I don't spend hours every day in the offseason pimping them in the NFL forum, so I must be bandwaggoning.

Whatever.

Yep. He missed on a couple of deep routes where the receivers were open, but it seems like when he missed he missed long. I'm looking for those plays to come around when he gets the adrenaline under control. Couldn't believe Gates dropped that one in the end zone.

...I think he missed 3 wide open deep routes all of which would have been TD's, add the Gates drop and the score could have been in the sixties. He seems to have the teams confidence, and as you say Mikey, once he getts the "eppy" under control its all good.

The question won't be answered until the end of the postseason... and even after that people will debate with regard to all time status, if the Bolts of this year deserve that kind of recognition.

That said, so far the team is doing what is absolutely necessary to be considered better than just good: beating the crap outta teams it *should* beat, meaning favored over.

From what I've seen so far, Scott is like everybody's mom (don't ever cross her 'cause you know she's right) and Whitey's like her little toy poodle. The one who hangs around and yaps noisly at anybody he thinks is threatening his mistress.

Mikey, the only time you've ever posted in the NFL forum over the past 5 or 6 years is when your team is doing well and on top. You are the epitome of a bandwagon riding bitch.

If the Chargers start to slide, you'll be gone, and we all know this.

I have respect for the folks who over the years have been and are in here discussing football and supporting their team (or throwing them under the bus) regardless of the current record. See poptart for an example of how that's done.

You don't qualify, slunt.

Take your frontrunning, non-football knowing ass elsewhere.

I'd rather read a take from trev, who has more passion for football and her team (and Drew Brees) than you'll ever have even if they have a perfect season.

Gee, let's see....KC Scott replies at 7:34.

Whitey chimes in like the good little toy poodle 19 minutes later. Props, but surprised here that it took you so long.
'smatter? Did you misplace the tutti frutti peach lip gloss that Scott so likes to see deposited by you on his nutsack?

Mikey,

I can only imagine as you and your old hippie friends sit around your living room, in bean bag chairs and sprawled on your futon, passing the 3 foot bong on a Sunday afternoon, the conversation would sound like this.

Mikey: Dude.... Phillip Rivers is Awesome, man

Stewie: yea, we are like so going to the Super Bowl this year

Mikey: Yea Man, we beat the Raiders.... The fucking Raiders man... They are always good so we must be like.... Really, Really Good *cough*

Ralphy: Yea Man... Did you see us tackle that Tennessee dude... Man.. That was righteous

Mikey: Yea.... it's gonna be a bitchin year. I'll bet LT rushes for 4,000 yards and has like 50 touchdowns.

Stewie: Yea, man.... He could like, so do that

Mikey: Yea... *cough* and we are gonna get like 100 sacks cuz like no one can stop that Shawn Marion dude. He used to play basketball, dude and you know you gotta be one badass dude to do both

Ralphy: Whoa man..... He could like jump over the line to like sack the quarterback

Mikey: Yea man, I think I saw him do that once

Ralphy: Dude, maybe you can sell a few bales of hemp and score us some tickets to a game

Mikey: Yea man, we could so do that. You dudes know how to get the stadium?

Stewie: Is it near the beach?

I guess if you can’t handle smack from a man try to lure a woman in.
What a pussy!

BTW, I noticed you don't say "Mmmkay" any more.

Update:

At this point I'd have to say that the Chargers are at least pretty good.
Sweeping the Donks is a nice accomplishment.

But now we need to beat the Chiefs, and then we need to get the Cravens at home and reem them a new asshole, so no team has seasonal BODE.
At that point, and not before, we start thinking about the Super Bowl.

It may be doable.

Rematch with Ravens in AFC Championship game would be sweet. I wouldn't expect any different result tho.
