Hmmm. I hadn't thought about that. This could technically be considered the start of a meltdown. I guess I was thinking more in terms of the classic rambling, semi-coherent, stream-of-consciousness rant.

The impending melt might just be on a temporary hiatus...

10-0 CU at the half?
Whoa.

13-0 now early in the 3rd, and it actually could be worse. CU's had a FG blocked and a TD pass calld back on a false start. B Jax is finally starting to look like his NCAA 07 counterpart...

fucking shame how bad of a conservative playcaller rix and his coaches are
they will never win a national title, till they figure out you cant win 12-7 every week. absolutely no creativity, dinosaur football.

UGA by 27... of course, I selected the Dawgs at home in the Pick'em. Figured it was a "gimme."

Yahoo has a live feed of the game for those of us not in SEC markets:

Georgia just recovered a fumble near midfield, about 7 min to go.

Up 13-0 only to blow it in the 4th? Hawk is getting a huge piece of humble pie at CU.

That's OK. I've never gotten the whole "root for the rest of the conference" mentality either. It'll be a cold day in hell before I root for Nebraska.
That said, get back to me when Missouri wins
anything of significance...

I'm not gonna melt this week. As much as it hurts to lose that game, it's not like it really changes anything. Is 1-3 really that much better than 0-4?
The important thing is (and I realize I'm veering dangerously close to "Hawkinspeak" here) that CU showed marked imrprovement in this game. B Jax seems to be growing into the QB role. He had a great game against UGA. He moved the ball well against a great defense. I'd still like to see them go downfield more, but at least the playbook seems to be slowly expanding.
The way I look at it (and I'm hoping this is how the Buffs are looking at it too) is, every team has essentially the same set of goals at the beginning of every season:
1. Win an MNC.
2. Win your conference.
3. Win your division.
4. Beat your main rival.
The first one went out the window for the Buffs in Week 1, but even at 0-4, the other 3 are still attainable (or maybe "theoretically possible" would be a better term). I have no illusions about CU actually winning the Big XII, but I wouldn't completely count them out of the North race. Mizzou and UNL are the obvious front-runners, but UNL still has Callahan, and the next time Mizzou wins anything worthwhile will be the first. ISU is already 0-1, Kansas St. doesn't look all that intimidating, and Kansas is, well, Kansas.
I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but as odd as it sounds, I feel a lot better about this team now, at 0-4, than I did after the CSU loss.

5. win 4 games.
while tough for CU fan, yesterdays game means that Hawkins doesn't lose the team and Barney's players (who quit on him last year anyway after the ISU game).
4-4 from here out is what i'd be hoping for if I were CU fan.
