Thousands rally for troops

Well Harper and O'Conner sounded just like Bush. That General Hiller is a knob too.Prime Minister Stephen Harper pledged again today to rebuild Canada’s military during a speech to thousands attending a rally on Parliament Hill to support Canada’s troops overseas.
The subdued colours of official Ottawa were replaced with blazing red shirts, red ties, red hats, red jackets — even flashes of red thongs among the crowd — all intended as a morale booster first proposed by the wives of two soldiers from the nearby Canadian Forces base at Petawawa.
Harper told a rambunctious, upbeat audience that they owe their freedoms to soldiers just like the ones who are fighting terrorism in Afghanistan today.
“Let me tell you,” he said, “this government is committed to rebuilding the armed forces of Canada and we are overwhelmed with the support we are getting to do that.”
The rally took on a life of its own as local radio stations in Ottawa pumped it up, promoting it on air.
It came on the same day that Afghan President Hamid Karzai addressed a joint session of Parliament, thanking Canadians for their efforts in the poverty-stricken country.
Karzai rejected arguments by NDP Leader Jack Layton that the Canadian troops should be withdrawn, saying that they’re making a contribution to the security of both Afghanistan and their own country.
What worries me since other countries will not commit troops or more troops to the Afghan quagmire, Harper will send more of ours.
Harper says we will be there until the mission is done. Well that mission will never be done and as a matter of fact, as soon as the troops leave, I believe Karzai will be killed.
