Best hip-hop album of the year so far, which is saying something in a year when the Roots put out a new CD.
This guy is a great rapper and lyricist. Just about every song is solid. The only real low points are the one verse in "Pressure" when Jay-Z raps and the 12 minute track of shout-outs that closes the album.
Best tracks, IMO, are "Daydreamin'," "The Instrumental" (which isn't, BTW), "Hurt Me Soul," and "Kick, Push II." If you are into indie/backpack rap, pick this CD up now. Don't be scared off by Jay-Z's involvement.
The beats are pretty mellow for the most part. Lots of mid-tempo stuff with samples of strings and keyboards. Reminds me a little bit of Portishead. He even samples UFO on one song.
