It's a setup, that's why.
The only reason that Detroit even made the post season was to get the oranization and its fans' hopes up, so they had even farther to fall when the humiliation comes. This is part of God's Plan.
You may ask, "but why would He do such a thing?"
I'm glad you asked...
He's doing it as devine punishment for Magglio Ordonez' freaking hair, which is clearly a crime against God and nature.

Magg's hair makes me think that Manny's hair really isn't that bad. He's supposedly not had a haircut in months. Hopefully after the season is over, that's the end of that little experiment.
I've been waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under TigerFan all year but this team is a few wins away from winning a division for the first time since '87 and host a divisional series. Never in my wildest dreams did I think things would turn around as quickly as it did. At this point, winning a playoff series is a bonus. I want them to win the whole thing because you never know if this is just one of those years when the stars align and everything happens just right to put them in the playoffs and next year, they have a year like the Indians had. This team was talented enough to be an above .500 team and the fact they have so many young players, it would leave me to believe this won't be the only time TigerFan can get excited about October baseball. I just have to look at the White Sox to say how easily it is to not capture lightning in a bottle for a second year in a row.
I know the Yankees have a crazy lineup but to me, there isn't much of a difference between the four teams in the AL and with the Mets looking more mortal by the day and the Cardinals crumbling, the NL is fairly wide-open. This is going to be a wild playoffs with no team being an easy out. I think we can see any combination of the 8 playoffs teams playing for the whole thing in the Series. I'm excited my team is going to be a part of this.

Nevermind. I know what you meant.
And is breaking out champaign a good idea with Carlos Guillen in the clubhouse?
If the Tigers win the WS, I'm calling up the networks to see if they'll commision a new season of Magnum, PI.
