Predictions?
I keep thinking that ISU's offense will finally show up sometime soon. I thought it would happen against Iowa. Didn't happen. It had better happen this week or it won't be good. ISU cannot afford to be down 21-7 at half against Nebraska. Our D seems like it keeps getting worse.
I'd like to hear what you Cornhusker fans think.

Predictions on Iowa State vs Nebraska??
In terms of compelling, relevant debate topics this one's right up there with trying to guess the office toilet paper brand on display in the next episode of "CSI: Missoula"...

ISU should break out offensively against Cosgrove's ineptness. McCarney's probably already seen the USC film 30 times and the Kansas film should be encouraging. Don't turn the ball over and you'll drop 38 on us. So, I guess the real question is, "Can ISU's defense hold Nebraska under 40?"

I guess Minorthreat should titled his thread, "USC's Carrol is a genius, Ohio State is looking good, and this week's bottom-feeder game ISU vs Nebraska"
Here all along I thought this was the college football section. Yeah, you're right Van....this COLLEGE FB game has place or relevance in here. Why don't you go start a new board where only top 5 teams are discussed? Bandwagoners should keep it active.

Regional coverage will be bending me over, as I'll get this game instead of CAL-Oregon, which is a much more interesting matchup to me.
'Course, I'm a CF nut so I'll still watch it.

Mind-numbing essays on why Auburn won't play a home-and-home with Temple says what?

Man, you actually sound like TVO when you do that.
Btw, that's not good.

I'd like to hear what you Cornhusker fans think.
Whoever scores last wins. Because your defense stinks, and we have Kevin Cosgrove. Push.
And I wouldn't worry about being down 14 at the half at your place.
Cosgrove has no problem surrendering any lead. Like 17 in his crib vs. KU.
He made a comment that "it was on him, the poor play was his fault, but it's all correctable and it will be corrected. "
OK Big 10 reject, can't you make changes
during the freekin' game if it's all correctable.
Anytime I hear this coach speak shit what it really means is " I have no f_____g clue on what to do."
He had 94 defensive plays in that game to call.....you'd think the light bulb would go on sometime in that 4 hour period!
He's an Idiot!
You gotta good shot minor.

I pretty much agree with everyone on the Cosgrove thing. I have not liked him since he came here. I think we did Wisconsin a favor by taking him off of their hands. I hate the bend but don't break defensive he "tries" to play. Just drop everyone 10 yards off the ball and let them waltz down the field. Let them get inside the redzone and then blitz the shit out them and try to hold them to a field goal. It seemed the only blitz we did during the KU game was an all out blitz which leaves everyone open. I would think they would mix in a stunt or just blitz one LB at different times. I would rather get beat deep once in a while playing tight man coverage and give us a chance to stop them.
I think this will be a great game. Both teams should be able to move the ball. Least amount of turnovers wins!

I think what it boils down to is that the shuckers D cordinator Cozgrove tries to play the cover 2 defense with guys who don't fit the scheme. He has slow linebackers, inexperience in the secondary and an overrated d line. Chicago Bears run a similar D and have a pass rushing specialist on the outside, something NU doesn't have. They have slow DE's. Chicago has Tommie Harris to stuff up the middle, NU has ??? and Chicago has Mike Brown at safety who is smart and fast. NU has an ex running back and some white dude who has no clue. Basically I would say defenses are a push, whoever fucks up least on O wins the game. I think NU wins a shootout but Iowa St. will be right there at the end.

I would love to be one of those naysayers that thinks we'll lose this game because of how NU played last week. I also don't agree that it will be close.
I think it was a wake up call that Nebraska almost lost to Kansas. If they had routed them, NU would have been ripe for a letdown. They had the let down after the fucking first quarter of the Kansas game in which they were intense the first quarter (Seriously, I thought NU puts up 60 during that first quarter they seemed so on fire). Then suddenly, NU lets off the gas, starts playing freshmen in the secondary and really lets KU get back in the game with some really bone-headed decisions on defense in which Cosgrover over and over had only two guys rushing while the Rush Ends kind of held back as if they were in punt coverage. I've seen quite a few screen captures of several of KU's big plays that helped them come back and that's what Cosgrove was scheming. Aparently, he was afraid of Kansas's vaunted shovel pass.
That and the fact that Zac Taylor couldn't hit the broad side of a barn that night by missing on over 60 percent of his passes, which put our defense back out there.
My gut feeling is that NU wins easily. Zac Taylor never blames the players. He blamed himself for how the offense played and being a coaches son, I think he'll turn it around this week and will be sharp.
NU also gets back Kurt Mann back this week, who'll probably won't start at center, but I'm sure will see half the snaps to sub the god-awful Byford.
NU's defense returns Steve Octavian who has been hampered by a "hamstring" injury (quotes because there were rumors that he has been gripping because of Ruud starting over him). I think you'll see him play extensively. His presence will help.
No way Cosgrove gets it wrong two weeks in a row. He's done this since he's been here. He'll scheme great a few weeks in a row and then he'll have a game when he schemes like his head's up his ass.
Better to face a complacent team than a team trying to prove they aren't embarrassments.
NU 38 - ISU 17
It's no knock on ISU. I think they're talented, but the fact that they have been very inconsistent doesn't help. Also an Iowa scribe was on the radio here talking about how he feels that ISU's players may have a defeatist attitude. They have been so close to the Big 12 North title two years in a row and failed that he thinks they play like they doubt themselves. Having watched NU go through that from 88 to 92, I can definitely confirm that that attitude is hard to get rid of.

Naw, I think he put it in for the deluded homers who think they got some kind of 'bode on Nebraska. Nebraska beats CU and non-buff fans say, "Yeah, so what" Nebraska beats Oklahoma and people notice...even in a down year for the sooners. Not only does Colorado havce a wanna-be rivalry with "the corn", they perform poorly in it and won't acknowledge the facts. Speaks volumes doesn't it?

Both teams played like dogshit Saturday, ISU even moreso considering that at least Neb played a credible Div1A opponent. But it is at ISU so it is a very tough call. Should be an exciting game.
I'd be packing now to take my happy ass to the game if returning to school didn't put my schedule and finances in such a bind. Shit I feel like roadtrippin', tailgaitin', and chasing some strange with the crew.

You've also climbed the bitch rankings like USC after two consecutive wins over Pac 10 opponents. Cut your nose off to spite your face much?

About what I said, except for the predictions that Mann and Octavian would come back. NU wins by same score margin I predicted.
