Anze Kopitar early Calder candidate
5 points in 2 games (2 goals against the Ducks, 3 assists against the Blues) The 19 year old from Slovenia has good speed, excellent agility, and Pronger is still looking for his jock after he schooled him on a beautiful goal Friday night.

Emphasis on the word 'early'...good start though. No clear cut favorites in the Calder race. Malkin misses the first few weeks of the season...he was the popular choice among many. Other names to watch: Phil Kessel (BOS), Gilbert Brule (CBJ), Wojtek Wolski (COL), Matt Carle (SJ), Loui Eriksson (DAL)...kind of confusing to figure out who are considered rookies or Calder-eligible given guys like Carle, Wolski and Brule played some last year. Should be another good crop this year but hard to beat the duo of Crosby and Ovechkin along guys like Lundqvist, Svatos, Phaneuf and Prucha. We may never see a crop like that again but that's mostly because of losing a season due to the lockout.
