Why do fish jump out of the water during an earthquake?

I'm neither a physicist nor a seismologist, or even a marine biologist, but I'm guessing it's pretty much the same reason you or I would jump if we felt a good sized quake. (I don't know about you, but Northridge got my ass out of bed.) Their little fishy brains were probably going "OMG WTF BBQ?"

Wasn't in la for northridge 94 i was still a sophmore in high school in austin, tx
