The majority in here say that last season's brand of hockey was far and away much more exciting than the year prior to the lockout right?
Because of all the extra scoring added due to the changes to the game right?
Only one problem with that...
The number of even strength goals last year--- was the exact same number in the year prior to the lockout.
And please don't tell me it was because of the shootout.

Not really a huge surprise. I'll bet if you look at the number of goals scored in the last half or third of last season, the goals scored would be comparable.
The "new NHL" is nothing but a bunch of weak-ass penalty calls and some inventive marketing. The game ain't that different.

Yeah but did anyone quantify the types of goals getting scored? How many were garbage-rebound-Ryan-Smyth-esq-goals and how many were nice Ovechkin goals of the rush?

Joey, I'm surprised you're not aware of this, but all goals are exciting.
Unfortunately, goals are the only exciting part of hockey, so we should do whatever we can to the game to get more goals.

I'm surprised a Flame fan knows what a goal is let alone knowing how exciting they can be.

Yeah, I've seen a goal or two in my time.
